Path of the Hollowed Soul (5e Subclass)

Path of the Hollowed Soul

--An archetype for the Barbarian Primal Paths--

Some barbarians in the world that carry the dark sign, choose to accept the power that it holds in it, instead of fighting against it to stay sane. These warriors learn by themselves how to control the hollow they gradually become, and eventually take an entire hollow transformation, whilst holding their sanity. Barbarians who follow this path, draw power from the dark sign, and feel blessed by it, instead of being cursed. With the power of the dark sign, they learn to manifest the inner hollow and use it to their advantage. In order to draw power from the dark sign, it covers the body with tattoos of long lines drawn on the body from the dark sign. The warrior starts with two tattoos, and one is added every time he gains a path feature (levels 6, 10, 14) ending up with 5 tattoos. The tattoos are either red, black or blue (decided by the player when choosing the path, the color is irrelevant to the path features).

Hollow Cloak

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you can channel your inner hollow through your fury when you start to rage. If you do so, you become cloaked in an aura of cursed black power that comes out of your tattoos until the rage ends. At the end of each of your turns for that duration, each creature within 5 feet of you takes damage equal to 1d6 + half your barbarian level. The damage is necrotic. The damage die is upgraded at levels 6 (1d8), 10 (1d10), 14 (1d12)

Hollowed Skin

Beginning at 6th level, your inner hollow allows you to provide protection for your allies. If you are raging and an ally you can see within 30 feet of you takes bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage, you can use your reaction to transfer your resistance to those damage types to the ally. The resistance applies to the incoming damage. Until the start of your next turn, the ally keeps the resistance and you lack it, unless you also have it from a source other than Rage. While using this feature, when you lack your physical resistances you are also vulnerable to fire.

Hollowification

Beginning at 10th level, you learn how to take form of a hollow while raging. You can take an action instead of a bonus action to enter a state called "Hollowed". While in this state, your entire body becomes the color of your tattoos, you grow a giant hollow snake head from your back in the color of your tattoos and you gain the "hollow" type for the duration of your rage. While in this state, you have one extra attack when you take the attack action. Once per turn, as one of your attacks, you may use the bite attack as per the following:

One target within 10 feet, must make a dexterity saving throw (DC 8+prof+strength) or be bitten, chewed, and thrown by the snake head. On a failure, target takes 4d6 piercing damage and 1d12 bludgeoning damage, and are thrown 15 feet to a direction you choose. On a success, target takes half damage and is not thrown.

Hollowed World

Beginning at 14th level, your control over your inner hollow becomes fully perfected, to a level where you can control every single molecule of your hollowed body, bring capable of both composition and decomposition of your body. While raging, as a reaction, you may choose to decompose your body, making you invulnerable for the turn. You may do so only when attacked, and you may move freely while decomposed. You may use this ability 2 times per short rest, and you gain one more use at level 17 and 20.
