Path of the Giant (5e Subclass)

Design Note: It is very strongly recommended that you use the Large Player Characters and Oversized variant rules.

Path of the Giant

For whatever reason, you stand well over the height of a normal member of your race. Whether through a blessing, a magical experiment, or simply the random circumstances of your birth, you are a veritable mountain.

Prerequisites: To take this subclass, you must be a medium or large sized creature. It's recommended that, when creating a Path of the Giant barbarian, you start at level 3 or higher, so you don't have to explain a sudden growth spurt.

I'm Huge!

When you choose this primal path at 3rd level, your size becomes Large. You cannot wield large sized weapons, however; only oversized weapons. You are two or three feet taller than the maximum height of your race. If your size was already Large, your Strength and Constitution scores each increase by 1 instead, to a maximum of 20.

  • Optional Penalty: Your DM may rule that this bonus also does not compound with racial traits that cause you to be treated as one size category larger, such as the Goliath's Powerful Build.
Momentum

Starting at level 6, while raging, you are an unstoppable force. When you use your action to take the dash or disengage action while raging, you may use your bonus action to shove a creature. You can also plow straight through certain obstacles, such as thin wooden walls, or furniture.

Stomp

Starting at level 10, when raging, you may perform a stomp as a bonus action. All creatures within 10 feet of you must make a Dexterity saving throw. The DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your Strength modifier + your proficiency bonus. On a failure, they are knocked prone. Once you make a stomp attack, you can't make another one until after you next use your rage feature.

Giant Cleave

Starting at level 14, when raging, you may perform a powerful raging strike as a weapon attack. When you do so, you may attack up to 3 creatures within your reach with a single melee strike. If you hit, all creatures hit by the cleave take the normal damage dealt by your weapon and must make a Strength saving throw. The DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your Strength modifier + your proficiency bonus. On a failure, they are thrown 20 feet away from you and are knocked prone. Once you make a cleave attack, you can't make another one until after you next use your rage feature.

gollark: Ah, the cognitobees work.
gollark: You could say that, but that would overstretch reasonable definitions of forgetting.
gollark: For example, if I spill a bucket of bees on the floor then erase my memory, I could later slip on the bees.
gollark: Well, you might, but an event you forgot can still have effects on you later.
gollark: Bee.
