Papari (5e Race)
<Papari>
Physical Description
Born out of fondness and pure imaginative energy, the Papari are drawings and ideas come to life. Most tend to be small, 2 dimensional beings with a 'front' and back'. Looking at them from the side, you may see bits of either side, or miss them completely. On occasion, you may see a 3 dimensional Papari made of cloth or cardboard. These Papari tend to be much more fragile than 2 dimensional ones and don't often make it more than a few months. They can be almost any shape or color. All Papari have a white outline around their lines, making them look like large stickers. The Papari can change their form using the original drawing utensil from which they were created, or if their creator chooses to change them. They can stick to walls and interact with other drawings. If unstuck from the 2D plane, they can interact with 3D objects, though whatever it chooses to hold will become 2D until it sets it back down.
History
It's unknown when the first Papari came into existence, but stories have been passed down from word of mouth. It is said that a fey once had gotten attached to a human child, and after watching it suffer a loss created a friend that would not leave its side. Other myths say the Papari come from the abyss and are not to be trusted. Either way, they are rare and scattered far and wide.
Society
The Papari aren't bound to a society of their own and most are entirely unaware that others like it exist. They tend to adopt the societal norms of the place it is created in. The Papari cling to the thing that created it well into the artist's adulthood. They have a very strong attachment to their artist, even if the artist changes alignments or grows out of their Papari. The Papari will not change with the artist, unless the artist chooses to change it. They stay the same size and keep the same childish mindset they've had since creation. If an artist attempts to abandon their Papari, it might get violent towards the artist and attempt to kill them or drag them into the 2D plane. Under very special circumstances, the Papari may be able to switch forms with their artist and take up the 3D plane while its artist is stuck in the second.
