Papallona (5e Race)

Papallona

Physical Description

A blue Papallona Maluc, Blue Morpho by drachenmagier

The papallona are a race of female-exclusive, butterfly-like people. They are peace-loving creatures, and are purely vegetarian. They stand between 5 and 7 feet tall, have many beautiful features and voices, and enjoy to either be left alone in the wild or be in the wild with friends. Papallona come in two different subraces, papallona maluc and papallona columna. A maluc's wings are on the hip, and a Cclumna's wings are on it's back in between the shoulders. The colors of a papallona's chitin vary, most of the time being bright and beautiful shades of blue, orange, green, and purple, but it can also be brown, black, yellow, red, and white. The legs of the papallona are pointed like a spear, and can be used as a weapon. Without the balance and lift provided by their wings, the papallona would be unable to walk.

History

The papallona have lived in the forests of the eastern continents for many centuries. The papallona once tried to live among the Shou, attempting to adapt to their culture, rituals, and lifestyles. But the Shou hunted the papallona for their glimmering chitin when they discovered the papallona first. Since this incident, they have sheltered themselves from other intelligent creatures, as they feel that they would be hunted once again otherwise.

Society

The papallona live pleasing lives and while life expectancy might be lacking, their joy and communication with nature helps relief most of their issues. The papallona live in groups of up to 24, but a leader of said group is never elected. Religion holds no importance at all in their lives and, if anything, has made them more light-hearted. The papallona are quite spiritual, however, and have tied themselves to the world, the nature, and the skies. When formally introducing themselves, papallona maluc curtsy with their wings, and papallona columna bow forward. The papallona do not mate, for from the moment they mature, eggs have already begun to form. The cause of this extraordinary phenomenon is unknown. The papallona tend to not use weapons, but they can if it's a life-or-death situation.
