Oath of the Rock (5e Subclass)

Oath of the Rock

Paladins who follow the Oath of Rock do not get their divine power from a god, but rather from their connection to the stones, earth, and metal beneath them.

Honesty
Don't lie or cheat. Let your word be your promise.
Loyalty
Your word is your bond.
Courage
You must be willing to do what needs to be done for the sake of order, even in the face of overwhelming odds.
Duty
Be responsible for your actions and their consequences, protect those entrusted to your care, and obey those who you have placed your trust in and named your master.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed. No spell has its gameplay effects changed (unless otherwise stated), but all applicable should be "flavored" to involve manipulating earth. Additionally, your divine smite damage is now fire.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

  • Earth Shift: You move the ground underneath up to 3 creatures you can see. If unwilling, they must make a Dexterity save, or be moved 20 feet in any direction. Creatures moved in this way do not trigger reactions.
  • Erupting Rage: As a bonus action, you can erupt in rage against a creature you can see within 10 feet of you. You gain advantage on attack rolls against the creature for 1 minute or until it drops to 0 hit points or falls unconscious.

Aura of Protection
Starting at 7th level, when a creature within 10 feet of you takes damage, you can use your reaction to magically create a stone wall in front of the creature and take that damage, instead of that creature taking it. This feature doesn't transfer any other effects that might accompany the damage, and this damage can't be reduced in any way. At 12th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Beloved by Earth
Starting at 15th level you gain the following bonuses
  • You do not take fall damage when landing on natural ground
  • You have advantage on saving throws to avoid becoming restrained.

Massive Stone Form

Starting at 20th level, as an action, you can summon rock from the ground to surround you. You can only use this feature once, regaining its usage after a long rest. You gain the following, lasting for one minute.

  • You gain 50 temporary hit points. When these temporary hit points reach 0, the effect ends.
  • Your size becomes Large.
  • You do not gain the benefits of any armor or weapons you are wielding.
  • However, your AC becomes 18, and your unarmed attacks are now a +3 weapon that deals 1d8 bludgeoning damage.

gollark: Can't wait for the inevitable merging of all wireless communication standards into one vast, incomprehensible monolith.
