Oath of Earth (5e Subclass)

Oath of Earth

Paladins who follow the Oath of Earth do not get their divine power from a god, but rather from their connection to the stones, earth, and metal beneath them. It is a common path for Morog paladins to take.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed. No spell has its gameplay effects changed (unless otherwise stated), but all applicable should be "reflavored" to involve manipulating earth.

5thenlarge/reduce, spike growth

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you choose two of the following Channel Divinity options.

  • Earthen Weapons: You conjure a number of melee weapons or shields from the ground equal to your proficiency bonus, at a distance up to 30 feet away from you. In order to use this ability, you must be standing on stone or metal. The weapons crumble to dust after 24 hours, or when you take your next long rest. At 5th level, these weapons are +1 weapons, and become +2 weapons at level 9 and +3 weapons at level 15.
  • Earth Shift: You move the ground underneath a number of creatures (up to your proficiency bonus) you can see. If unwilling, they must make a Dexterity save, or be moved 20 feet in any direction. Creatures moved in this can or cannot trigger reactions, depending on you.
Aura of Earthen Protection
Starting at 7th level, your earthen power protects you and friendly creatures from harm. You and friendly creatures within 10 feet can no longer be petrified unwillingly, and gain the effects of a shield of faith. At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.
Beloved by Earth
Starting at 15th level you gain the following bonuses
  • You do not take fall damage when landing on natural ground.
  • When starting your turn on natural ground, your land speed is increased by 10 feet.
  • You gain resistance to non-magical acid, fire, and poison damage.

Stone Shroud Form

Starting at 20th level, as an action, you can summon rock from the ground to surround you. You can only use this feature once, regaining its usage after a long rest. You gain the following, lasting for one minute.

  • You gain 50 temporary hit points. When these temporary hit points reach 0, the effect ends.
  • Your size becomes Huge.
  • You do not gain the benefits of any armor or weapons you are wielding; they meld into your stone form.
  • However, your AC becomes 20 and gain immunity to slashing, piercing, and bludgeoning damage from non-magical weapons, and your unarmed attacks are now a +3 weapon that deals 3d12 bludgeoning damage.

gollark: What if everyone is clones of Oscar after plastic surgery?
gollark: What if this is one of those unreliable narrator scenarios and Oscar actually killed whoever it was and stole their identity?
gollark: Actually, "behind", not "for".
gollark: I guess you could say "the reasoning for someone's suspicion" too.
gollark: Yes, it would be "justification", not "reasoning". Or just "reason".
