Mannad (5e Deity)

Mannad

Domains. Nature, War
Divine Rank. Lesser Deity

Mannad is a goddess of archery, hunting, and plants. She is often depicted as being blind or wearing a blindfold, to emphasise her prowess with the bow and incredible accuracy, and her priests often wear ceremonial cloth coverings over their eyes. Mannad can assume many forms, though typically she appears as a ranger or a predatory animal, usually a panther or a wolf with unnaturally dark fur.

Most worshippers of Mannad are hunters and rangers, who invoke her skill with the bow by whispering a short prayer before firing an arrow. When the hunt is a success, they thank her by carving an arrow shape in the animal's skull, then burying it where it fell. Many believe that seeing a black-furred panther while hunting is an omen from Mannad, and that if the animal attacks, that they have incurred her ire. If the animal approaches peacefully, it is seen as a sign of Mannad's favour.
