History

Society

Whether it was lost to time or never existed to begin with, the Little Nightmares have no place of there own to call home. They tend to gather in and around the settlements of larger races, often found living besides Humans, Dwarves, Fairies and Beastfolk. Not much is known about them, and in keeping with their secretive nature, they normally makes their homes in place that are "just out of sight."

All Little Nightmares have latent magical potential, this being the origin of race's name. The inborn ability to perform powerful nightmarish magics, has driven some communities to actively hunt down even the most harmless of Little Nightmares.

Little Nightmare Names

It is unknown if the names Little Nightmares refer to themselves as, are actually their true names. Most people believe them to be nicknames or aliases that the Little Nightmares use in the presense of other races. These names are often numbers, colors, or a brief description of their sex and the outfit or article of clothing they most commonly wear.

Male: Seven, Fifteen, Brown, Silver, The Boy in the Paper Mask, The Boy in the Iron Boots.

Female: Six, Two, Yellow, Azure, The Girl in the Yellow Raincoat, The Girl with the Rainbow Ribbon.

Little Nightmare Traits

Little Nightmares are well known for their fragile bodies. Though durable in their own right, the toils of a much larger world can easily break them.
Ability Score Increase. Due to your fragile but agile body, your Dexterity and Wisdom score increase by 2, and your Dexterity score can reach a maximum of 22. However, your Constitution score cannot increase above 14.
Age. Little Nightmares mature at the same rate as humans, though there body stops showing signs of aging early into their adulthood. The natural lifespans of Little Nightmares is unknown. Most die young, be it a result of their recklessness, curiosity, or wanderlust. Though every now and again one may survive quite a while longer, some have been known to live well over 700 years/
Alignment. Much like the humans they resemble, the alignments of Little Nightmares can vary wildly.
Size. Little Nightmares have an average height of eight to fourteen inches. Your size is Tiny.
Speed. Due to being tiny, your base speed is 15, but your climbing and swimming speed are 30.
Hunger. The Hunger is a term used by Little Nightmares to describe the natural way by which they begin to starve. For reasons unknown to them, Little Nightmares have to eat twice as much food per day than normal.
Ridiculously Tiny. While Tiny in size, your attack damage deals a consistent 1 point of damage, regardless of modifiers, if the weapon would deal 1d8 or less damage, and 2 points of damage if the weapon would deal 1d10 or more damage. Your reach also becomes 0 feet, even with a reach weapon. Because of your Tiny size, you can enter, move through, and stop in spaces occupied by other creatures unless the creature takes up the entire space. As well, enemies that are more than 10 feet away have disadvantage on attack rolls against you. They also have disadvantage on attack rolls against you if you share the same space as them.
Agile. When Tiny in size, you have disadvantage on Strength checks or saving throws involving creatures of Medium or higher size, but you have advantage on Dexterity checks or saving throws involving creatures of Medium or higher size. You also gain proficiency in the Acrobatics skill.
Little Nightmare. You learn 1 cantrip from the Warlock or Wizard spell list. At 14th level you choose one spell of 5th level or lower from the same spell list as your chosen cantrip. Once per long rest you cast the chosen spell at will without expending a spell slot or materials. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability modifier for this spell.

If you have the pact magic or spellcasting class feature, and you have 14 levels in a single spellcasting class you may instead choose a spell of 3rd level or lower, and if you do you can cast it at will as a 3rd level spell without expanding a spell slot or materials. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability modifier for this spell.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.

gollark: My web project.
gollark: Ah yes, run it in the background while it occupies 100% of my CPU.
gollark: > <@258639553357676545> how much when built for production?<@!330678593904443393> I have never tried because I don't really have time to sit through 10 minutes of compilation.
gollark: As you should.
gollark: 94MB. I have about 215 dependencies, you see.
