A peculiar armament, the lance blade has a long, curved, heavy blade attached to a spear-like shaft with a solid, slightly crescent shaped, light blade at the opposite end. Whirling this weapon around takes the utmost skill as you could easily impale or cut yourself, though it makes you difficult to hit. The heavier blade is for chopping, hacking and stabbing while the light blade is for slicing, slitting and impaling.

As a double weapon, wielding a lance blade is like wielding a weapon in each hand. You can use either end of the lance blade to deliver an attack unless a power specifies a main or off-hand weapon attack. An enchanted double mace receives an enhancement bonus on both ends, but weapon properties or powers conferred by the enchantment affect only the primary end of the weapon.

Defensive

The lance blade's primary (main) end grants you a +1 bonus to AC while you wield it, since you are also considered to have a melee weapon in your other hand. To gain this benefit, you need not attack with the primary end, but you must be proficient with it.

Stout

You can treat the lance blade's primary (main) end as a two-handed weapon.

High Crit

The lance blade's primary (main) end deals more damage when you score a critical hit with it. A critical hit deals maximum weapon damage and an extra 1[W] at 1st–10th levels, an extra 2[W] at 11th–20th levels, and an extra 3[W] at 21st–30th levels. This extra damage is in addition to any critical damage the weapon supplies if it is a magic weapon.

Off-Hand

The lance blade's secondary (off-hand) end is light enough that you can hold it and attack effectively with the primary end in your main hand. You can't attack with both ends in the same turn, unless you have a power that lets you do so, but you can attack with either end.

gollark: Are we using an ethics cuboid or something?
gollark: No, I mean how are we defining "good", morality is hard.
gollark: Well, what *is* good?
gollark: God is just a monoid in the category of endofunctors. Also dead.
gollark: I knew someone who liked Jordan Peterson. I do not like that person. Therefore, logically, they must be bad.
