Race Description

Krokul are a corrupted form of Draeni, cursed by the legion to be used as soldiers bent to their will, much to the shame and disgrace of most Corrupted. While the Draenei are a very powerful and wise race, combining both the age and wisdom of an ancient, sophisticated creature with the Brute force of more powerful races, the corrupting influence of the Legion, Krokul tend to be much more weak and frail, relying more on their knowledge of magic arts than their usual combat prowess. While most Draeni can live up to 400 years old, and accrue large amounts of knowledge in their lifetime, prizing themselves on being both powerful and sagely, the Krokul have vastly enlongated lifespans, with many having lived over 1000 years, kept alive due to the damned magic of the Legion. They suffer in regards to melee combat because of their corruption, yet are particularly well suited for Arcane magic and power. While Draenei are exceptionally spiritual in nature, and often worship multiple Gods, the Corrupted often times have trouble connecting to their more divine past as a part of their change. Often very Charismatic, Draeni distinguish themselves as very noble and brave races, facing danger as it comes and approaching most problems with a sage-like wisdom that is often revered by other races. As Krokul have been corrupted, it is often to their great shame that they are not as wise and sage-like as many other members of their race, and corrupted in to following the dark arts. Their mystical and somewhat mysterious origins as well as their strange appearances draws attention wherever they go, in addition to their deformities.

Most Draenei are from Exodar, or a lost city and ship that crash landed on the planet many years ago, and most Krokul are from this group that were captured and corrupted by The Legion. Separated from their Brothern as the result of a war, they hail from another dimension, aliens to their new land, to help fight the evils of both universes. Draenei are creatures of rich heritage, with an immense knowledge of spiritual and arcane information, that many of the corrupted have lost. They generally know more about the other dimensions than most races, which makes them particularly knowledgeable in most fields. While very large and strong, Draenei are far from simple brutes. They are often very intelligent and charismatic, and come from an incredibly advanced society. They can be thought of gentle, thinking giants, who can go to war when it becomes absolutely necessary. Unfortunately most corrupted serve the Legion, which makes it difficult for them to fit in with other races and often leads to them turning to darker paths.

Be a Draenei if you want

  • To be a large, powerful, and corrupted race, with a dark unsettling past
  • Turn heads in awe everywhere you go
  • Be a noble race with a mysterious extra-dimensional past
  • Be a race that favors the Rogue, Ranger, Warlock, and Sorcerer classes.

Physical Qualities

Krokul, or corrupted Draeni, are large, standing between 6'10 and 7'10, and being between 220 and 380 pounds. However, due to their corrupted status they tend to be slightly weaker than normal Draeni, and significantly more frail. They are almost always a shade of blue, ranging between dark and bright colors, but occasionally will range in purple or indigo; some corrupted Draeni are red, signifying the level of alteration they've received from the Legion. Krokul are essentially Draeni that have been corrupted, but due to a lack of a cure have been left permanently affixed with various deformities and other problems which make them more susceptible to corrupting influences. Draeni possess large tendrils coming down from their face and other parts of their body, which they frequently braid or decorate with jewelry. They also have large tails, which come down to their legs, and hoofs on each feet. In contrast to normal Draeni however, they appear more sickly and weak, and also have facial deformities which tend to be more pronounced than normal Draeni. While a humanoid race, they are among the most unique of the sentient races. They are exceptionally strong an resilient, being an inherently magical race, and are particularly resistant against psychic and fear damage. Draeni as a whole are most commonly attracted to divine powers, being a very spiritual race, although corrupt Draeni tend to stray from this path.

Draenei are an ancient race, and live incredibly long lifespans. Living up to 400 years old, they begin to frail at 300, reaching the rough maturity of a 50 year old human, and by 400 are almost on their deathbed, nearly 85 years old. While some Draenei are known to have live past this, it is exceptionally rare, and rarely in good health. They as a result are extremely intelligent from accruing large amounts of information over their lifetime, and naturally gifted at the magic arts. Many Draenei come from the city Exodar, and thus carry traits from members of the city as a result. Draenei often glow with a purple, evanescent hue, and to most races seem otherworldly, like beings from another planet. They have an attraction to bright purple Jewelry and in particular stones which often float from their home planet.

Krokul Utility Powers

When your Krokul character gains a class utility power after 1st level, you can forgo taking a power granted to you by your class. Instead you gain an Krokul utility power of the same level or lower.

Notes

The race is intended to essentially be comparable to the Corrupted Draenei race of World of Warcraft.

It's based heavily on the existing Draeni race I made, only with a few changes. I'm open to suggestion for changes but I think this is pretty good.

gollark: Possibly.
gollark: I mean that the expensiveness is probably a consequence of other weirdness, like the way the whole "prestige" thing with it seem to work, and that apparently much of the value in it is just signalling and not education.
gollark: The US's college system seems kind of insane, and would probably be less expensive if it wasn't like that.
gollark: If you didn't want that, you should have contacted the *anti-fire* department.
