Kakapo

Physical Description

Small flightless robust Avians. Green and yellow feathering offer excellent camouflage in wooded and tropical enviorments. Their hands are hidden under their fluffy feathering. Their beaks act as a hook when climbing. What they lack in flight they make up for in a very quick movement speed.

History

Originally from isolated tropical islands, now they are found in most port cities or ship crews. When found away from ports, they are often in simple farming communities.

Society

Often in small peaceful tribes, there is rarely any conflict with the outside world. Chiefs are chosen by a representative from each age group, with often the elderly and youth with a more of a powerful vote.


Kakapo Traits

Ability Score Increase. Your Dex score increases by 2 and your Cha score increases by 1.
Age. Kakapos reach maturity at 5 years of age, and live to be about 60 years old
Alignment. Kakapos are often in the good alignment and rarely of a chaotic or lawful nature.
Size. Kakapos very rarely are taller than 4 feet tall. Your size is Small.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 40 feet due to your strong Kakapo legs. Your climbing speed is 40 due to your specialized beak. Your hands can be free when you climb
Low Metabolism. Your metabolic rate is naturally very slow. Poisons take 2 extra turns longer to take effect. You also remain Poisoned for 2 extra turns. You can last with out eating and drinking for 2 days more than humans.
Fluffy. Opponents roll at disadvantage against you with grapple checks due to your fluffy feathers. You are also naturally proficient at Sleight of Hand due to the fluff covering your hands. Your unarmored AC is 13 plus your Con modifier since your fluff cushions most blows. Upon receiving fire damage Your natural AC will drop by 1 each time you get hit with fire damage. A long rest will restore your natural AC.
Avian defense. They have adapted to face against Avian foes and gain +2 to AC when fighting all bird species. They are horribly ill defensed against foes who are feline. -2 AC when fighting feline foes.
Kakapo Camo. Your green and yellow feathering gives you advantage on stealth checks in greenery. Wearing armor that does not match your colors will negate this.
Kakapo Charm. Your generally friendly and innocent demeanor gives you +2 to Persuasion and + 1 to Deception
Foraging. You find fruit and berries and insects much easier +1 to Survival, and when searching for fruit or insect based food sources, you get +5 perception
Kakapo Heftiness. You weigh a deceptive amount for your size. You take 1.5x the fall damage. You weigh as if you are a medium creature.
Kakapo Senses. You can see in the dark up to 30 feet. You can detect the organic make up of something by smell.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common, Auran and one language from the nearest port city.
