Iron-Shod Staff (3.5e Equipment)

An iron-shod staff is a sturdy quarterstaff reinforced with metal (typically iron or steel) at each end. It is somewhat more cumbersome than a standard quarterstaff, and hence is classed as a martial weapon. In all respects except for proficiency, it can be treated as a quarterstaff. For instance, a character with the feat Weapon Focus (Quarterstaff) can apply the bonus to iron-shod staff.

The iron-shod staff is a special monk weapon, allowing it to be used as part of a monk's flurry of blows. However, monks are not automatically proficient with it.
