Hylian (4e Race)

This page is of questionable balance. Reason: The weapon attacks are a function of class, not race - these are things Link can do because he is a fighter, not because he is a Hylian. A Hylian is a human that lives in Hyrule, so not sure why we need this when a racial heritage feat would suffice.

The Hylians have lived in peace for a long time until the Trolls came. Even with their trained horses and nightmares, it was a hard battle every time. They wear war paint and white clothing with a long white cap when going into battle. They also helped the Zora fight battles against the Skum. The Zora sent a petition to one group that was close to them: The Hylians. Just as all the walls fell and Elites were entering from all sides, there was a horn. An army made of Hylians on horses and nightmares appeared on the horizon. There was a wild battle cry. But the Skum were determined to defeat the Zora. They continued in their battle: The Hylians came galloping on their horses. Then, before trampling the Skum, they rose up and balanced on their saddles, with glowing blue energy on their blades, then with a mighty yell, they jumped off their horses right into the fray. Once on the ground, another battle cry, they all spun around, slashing the Skum as they tripped them. Even elites fell. A while later, The battle ended. The Skum that were retreating were cut down and only a few survived. But, they now fight a battle with the Dark Hylians.

They reach maturity at Age 18.

Play a Hyrulian if you want...

  • To be strong and intimidating
  • To be elven in appearance
  • To be a member of a race that favors the Fighter and Sorcerer classes.

Physical Qualities

Skinny people, but stronger than most elves.

Playing an Hylian

Hylians share a love for battle but only if it is for a noble and good cause. They have a sense of honor. Murderers are not welcome in their company, nor robbers.

Hylian Characteristics: Skinny, strong, and a sense of honor

Male Names: Link, Sheik and Roy. And any Elven name.

Female Names: Zelda, Saria, Iris. And any Elven pie.

Hyrulian Adventurers

A Hylian in his normal clothes.

Three sample Hylian adventurers are described below.

Link is a Hylian Fighter and part of the sentries of Hyrule castle. Adventure called when he was 17 years old. He is the most commited to tradition in his group. Every time he wakes up, he applies his war paint, and dons his white war clothes.

Roy is a two-weapon Ranger. Ever since the day of helping the Zora, he's been cursed. A Skum priest cursed him to have an alternate identity. The identity he assumes at night, which is the identity of a Dark Hylian. The Hylians worked with him, endeavoring to cure him, but in vain. They made him go into exile because of the destruction he was causing. One day, an adventuring group decided to let him join, even though they knew of his alternate identity.

Zelda is a Hylian Sorcerer. She and Link would talk when he was free from sentry duty. Then as Link was leaving, she found out and adopted an alter-ego. Shiek. Just at one battle, when Link was about to get fatally wounded, she threw herself in front of him as a human shield, falling unconcious from the blow. As he was treating her wounds, he took off her mask and found out it was her. He vowed to never let herself get hurt just because of him. She was the most commited to helping Roy recover from his curse, or at least be able to control himself.
