Personality

Untrusting of outsiders, Nords are very xenophobic. They do get along well with Dwarves, as they trade metals and bond well over a pint of strong ale, most other non-Nords, including other humans, are met with suspicion - especially Elves. And Nords are outright aggressive when met with denizens of the Underdark. They are very suspicious of magic as well, trusting warily in Divine Magic and oftentimes outright banning Arcane Magics from public use.

Physical Description

Nords are a large bunch, with pale skin and often brightly-colored hair. Their hair color is typically blonde, but can be brown and, on rare occasions, either black or a dark auburn. Their eye colors are typically blue or green, though violet and hazel are common as well. Brown is uncommon (in fact, Nords are the human race with the lowest number of brown-eyed individuals). Other rare eye colors are silver, gray, and amber.

Relations

Nords get along well with Dwarves. They are outwardly hostile towards denizens of the Underdark. As for every other race, Nords are very suspicious of strangers. Even other humans are met with distrust. Nords get along best with other Nords.

Alignment

Nords are usually Lawful Neutral. However, barbarians, which are relatively common, tend to be Chaotic Neutral. Individual Nords, however, can be of any alignment.

Lands

Nords live in the snowy wastelands and vast tundras, and follow basic governance such as Theocracies, Monarchies, and Tyrannies.

Religion

The Nords worship a plethora of gods, though chief among them are Heironeous, Kord, Saint Cuthbert, and Pelor - the paragons of humanity, as seen by them. Evil Nords often turn to Nerull and Hextor. Magic Users tend to follow Wee Jas, Auril, and Boccob.

Language

Nords speak Common.

Names

Nordic naming customs are the same as typical human names. Examples include Ivar, Hokar, and Skyg for males and Mella, Halla, and Elwyn for females. For inspiration, look at Swedish, Danish, and Norwegian names.

  • Nord base land speed is 30 feet: Nords are able to move at this speed through up to 1 ft. of snow, as well.
  • +4 Survival to resist Cold Weather, -4 Survival to resist Hot Weather
  • Automatic Languages: Common. Bonus Languages: Any (other than secret languages, such as Druidic). See the Speak Language skill.
  • Favored Class: Barbarian
