Heavy Archer (5e Subclass)
Heavy Archer
The Heavy Archer specializes in powerful ranged weapons, be it an arbalest, a greatbow, or even a portable ballista. They may not be as maneuverable as their compatriots, but they exchange that for superior firepower.
- Stationary Shooting
When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain the ability to set your footing and focus all your attention on your shooting. When you make an attack roll with a ranged weapon that has the heavy property, you can sacrifice your movement in this turn (if you haven't moved already) to gain a bonus of +1 to your attack and damage rolls.
The bonus to the attack and damage rolls increases to +2 at 10th level, and to +3 at 18th level.
- Trained Hands
At 3rd level, when you make an attack with a ranged weapon that has the heavy and loading properties, you can use a bonus action to reload it.
- Impacting Shot
Starting at 7th level, you can use your action to perform a special attack. As an action, you can make a ranged weapon attack with a ranged weapon that has the heavy property. You add your Strength modifier to both your attack and damage roll. On a hit, a medium or lower sized target must make a Strength saving throw against a DC equal 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength or Dexterity modifier. On a failed save, the target is knocked prone.
- Multishot
Starting at 15th level, when you take the attack action with a ranged weapon, you can forgo one of your attacks on your turn to perform a double shot. When you use this special attack, you can make two ranged weapon attacks with a penalty of -5, dealing double damage on a hit.
- Improved Impacting Shot
At 18th level, you can now use your Impacting Shot to knock prone creatures with huge size or lower on a successful hit. You can also knock prone gargantuan creatures on a critical hit.
