Setting

In an undetermined point in time, the universe isn't in an admirable place. The Rebellion and Republic are aggrieving each other by attacks from mercenaries and several spies. Our heroes find themselves outside of the conflict, usually trying to find a way to get a ship. Do these heroes choose the join the Republic or the Rebellion, or do they choose to ignore the war and do something else like mercenary work? Only these metaphorical heroes can decide.

Cosmology

Kuria: A planet with little water shrouded in darkness. All the cities are almost like new neo Tokyo The republic has their HQ here home to the night elves. Organis: A world unburdened of technology, the natives of the planet live as if it was old-world econia Home to genasi. Aquarius: A planet devoid of water, the rebellion has their HQ here Home to Refugees, and Mostly humans. AVR-1, or The Aviary: A planet filled to the brim with high mountains and very few valleys Home to arancokra, kenku. Econia: Cultural hearth of the galaxy, housing places such as nagaram, river’s end, dowisetrepla, and the citadel Home to Humans, Dragonborn, High and wood elves, gnomes, and dwarves.

Entities

The only resemblance of gods in this universe are known as the sun-elves. They were the beings that came before the before-times. In the first great banishment, sun-elves were banished to separate planets in separate areas. The elves that resided in the forest became the wood elves, the elves that resided in the hills became the high elves. The only odd one out were the night elves. They were banished to Kuria, a planet covered in darkness, which caused their purple skin. However the sun elves take the names and the abilities of the original 5E gods and patrons. (Whether there are churches of them is up to the DM)

Geography

Econia's geography is varied, housing oceans, plains mountains, and deserts. Organis has two large mountain ranges, one covered in a white mist. One section of the main continent is burnt and dead. The last section is rather sandy. Aquarius is mostly flat desert, however, the western hemisphere is covered in a strange, almost man-made, sandstorm (Up to DM on what causes it). The Aviary is a jungle planet, full of dense flora, and plentiful fauna down below. Kuria has a gigantic neon city, filled with casinos, restaurants, and hotels. However, outside the city limits is a frozen tundra.

Rebulic

An organization hell-bent on understanding all of the customs of every race on every planet. They’ll do this by espionage, integrating themselves into their society, or just by interrogation. When they’re not learning, they’re experimenting with technology creating things such as phones, universal translators. Space ships etc.

Rebellion

Started by a rogue republic agent, the Rebellion is an organization insistent on destroying what the republic stands for no matter what may happen to the people in the cross fire. They’ve taken several raids and attacks on republic convoys and space caravans to slow their understanding of the galaxy.

History

Before spaceships flew, the world was simple. A group of heroes gathered in a tavern. Those heroes being a rogue, a cleric, and a fighter. These heroes were given the task to clear out a local werewolf infestation. Once they investigated after clearing the infestation, they realized that these werewolves were rather recent. After a few exploits, they managed to find the person behind the werewolves. As they vanquished the werewolf beast, the rogue intentionally got bitten. Once they left the cave that housed the mad-man, the rogue chose to turn on their fellow to and start a werewolf empire. The Cleric chose to counteract this by creating a cure for werewolfism. The two former comrades became enemies. But, after nearly a century, the empire dwindled on econia. Now, the Republic and the Rebellion are having an espionage war, mercenaries are making bank off of this war, and a new planet named Organis has presented itself.

For DMs

To any person who wants to run this campaign, I suggest letting the players make minor things to help their backstory. For instance, in one version of this campaign, a player was playing as a run-away republic member. They needed a contact, so we brainstormed for a little while and made them a companion that was their contact. I know that's not the best example, but it's an example nonetheless. Additionally, don't make one side of the war better than the other. They are made to have their own boons and banes. The Republic being more orderly but a little suspicious in their research, and the Rebellion fighting for the betterment of the universe even if some people get killed.

gollark: It'd be saner to run the designer *client-side*, though.
gollark: It's much *less* crazily complex than C++.
gollark: *does not like C++*
gollark: Probably JS, though.
gollark: Well, loads of languages now have webby tooling.
