Harmony Dragon

Born only once every thousand years, Harmony Dragons are an incredible rarity. Born to Metallic dragons, most commonly silver, their origins are a mystery to all but a select few.

Making a Harmony Dragon

Harmony Dragons are a spellcaster fighter hybrid that are focused on utility and support of a larger group. They are also quite mobile, and as such can be used as shock troopers or scouts.

Abilities: Charisma is the most important stat for Harmony Dragons, as it determines the power of their spells. Wisdom also determines how many spells can be cast per day. Dexterity is also useful as it provides a large AC.

Races: Dragons

Alignment: Somewhere on the Good axis.

Class Features

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Harmony Dragons are proficient with all simple and martial weapons, as well as light and medium armor, but not shields or heavy armor.

Spellcasting: Harmony Dragons learn one spell per level, and once learned, it can be cast at will. The Save DC is Charisma based, and the Harmony Dragon can cast a number of spells per day equal to their level plus their Wisdom Modifier

Flight All harmony dragons gain a 40 ft flying speed and a 20 ft walking speed.

Transform (Su): Harmony Dragons are capable of taking an alternate, humanoid form, and often do so to better interact with many races. Common forms include human and elven. Ability scores do not change, but dragons are not capable of using their natural weapons or wings in this form, and also lose their Natural Armor bonus. Clothing donned in this form disappears into the hide when in dragon form, however armor does not. Appearance does not correlate to draconic appearance, although it can if the dragon so wishes. Transformation is a full round action.

Dragon Traits: Dragons need to eat and drink only once a day, and require only 4 hours of sleep. Darkvision 60 feet and low-light vision. As a dragon your size is medium for young dragon, large for adolescent, huge for adult, and massive for ancient. As a dragon you gain: plus two strength, plus one dexterity, and plus one wisdom. As usual, this can not increase your scores above 20. Your skin and eyes are noticeably different than humanoids of any type, as well as your skin. You always have advantage on listen checks.

Sound Imitation (Ex): A very young or older blue dragon can mimic any voice or sound it has heard by making a successful Bluff check against a listener's Sense Motive check.

Bite: A Harmony Dragon may attempt to bite an enemy with its teeth. This deals 1d6 piercing damage. Its DC is equal to 10 plus your proficiency bonus plus your dexterity modifier. This only works in dragon form.

Claw: A Harmony Dragon may attempt to attack an enemy with their claws on their front feet. This inflicts 1d8 slashing damage, with a DC of 10 plus your proficiency bonus plus your strength modifier. This only works in dragon form.

Breath: A harmony dragon can use its draconic ancestry to breath fire. This does 1d4 of the appropriate damage type for your coloring within a 10 foot cone. This, unlike your other attacks, may work in human and dragon form as it carries over. It may only be used one time, and you gain reuse after a short or long rest.

Iron Teeth (Ex): A Harmony Dragon's bite attack becomes more potent upon reaching the 4th level. The Harmony Dragon's Bite attack damage is increased by one die (for example 1d6 -> 1d8).

Potent Breath (Ex): Having learned to manipulate its breath attack, a Harmony Dragon's damage when using its breath attack increases by one die (for example 1d4 -> 1d6).

Intimidating Roar (Ex): Channeling their primal nature into a single roar, Harmony Dragons are able to strike fear into the hearts of the meek. Enemies within a 30 foot radius are shaken for 1 round/3 levels unless they succeed a Will saving throw.

Strong Wings (Ex): As their muscles develop, Harmony Dragons grow faster. Base Fly Speed increased by 10 ft.

Iron Claws (Ex): Hardening claws increases the damage of the Harmony Dragon's Claw attack by one die (for example 1d8 -> 1d10).

Steel Teeth (Ex): Once again, the Harmony Dragon's teeth harden and sharpen, increasing the damage die again(cumulative).

Silver Tongue (Su): While Harmony Dragons grow in Strength, they also grow in wits and wisdom. Upon reaching the 12th level, a Harmony Dragon's charismatic skill grants them a +3 bonus to Bluff, Diplomacy, and Intimidate, and a +5 bonus to Perform.

Menacing Roar (Su): The fearsome nature of the Harmony Dragon allows them to frighten enemies with a mere roar. Enemies within 30 ft are frightened for 1 round/3 levels unless they succeed a Will saving throw.

Deadly Breath (Ex): The masterful breath attack of an experienced Harmony Dragon increases the damage of their breath attack by one die(cumulative).

Steel Claws (Ex): The Harmony Dragon's claws are akin to steel, increasing the damage of a Claw attack by one die again(cumulative)

Adamantine Teeth (Ex): The Harmony Dragon's teeth are sharper than swords, increasing the damage die by one(cumulative), and becoming magical weapons.

Terrifying Roar (Su): The sheer might of a high level Harmony Dragon allows it to cause all enemies in a 30 foot radius to be panicked for 1 round/4 levels unless they succeed a Will saving throw.

Mighty Wings (Ex): The harmony Dragon's wings grow even stronger, increasing base Fly Speed by 10 ft, and increases mobility by one category (for example Good -> Perfect). In addition, their wings grow bony spikes along the leading edge, causing a successful wing attack to deal 10d8 damage.

Scion of Dragonkind (Su): Upon reaching the pinnacle of their power, a Harmony Dragon becomes a Scion of Dragonkind. Spending three days in meditation with the skull of another dragon allows the Harmony Dragon to absorb knowledge of all spells that could be cast by the dead dragon, and allows it to cast them at will.

Campaign Information

Harmony Dragons are most often found in the Paradise Plateau region of Artoria, due to the large draconic population there. While their origins are mysterious, they are often welcomed, as throughout history Harmony Dragons have been travelers that roamed the world aiding those in need. Known only to a select few, Harmony Dragons are in fact extraplanar dragons from the Astral Plane, who are reborn on Terrania once every thousand years in order to maintain the balance between good and evil.

Playing a Harmony Dragon

Harmony dragon starter package

  • (A) One simple weapon or (B) One martial weapon
  • (A) An explorer's pack or (B) Dungeoneer's pack
  • One artisans tool or instrument of choice. You are proficient with your choice.

Religion: Rarely do Harmony Dragons worship a deity, however some have been known to be faithful to Bahamut.

Other Classes: Harmony Dragons get along well with most, if not all classes, however there is some friction between them and any evil aligned class, due to the good nature of a Harmony Dragon.

Combat: Harmony Dragons are most often mid-line fighter-casters, that will soften up the enemy lines with spells and wading into combat with a bite or breath attack as a finisher.

Harmony Dragons in the World

My music reaches any who stop to listen, for music is the language of life.
—Miryladon, Tiismaran Harmony Dragon

Daily Life: Harmony Dragons spend their days wandering, often with groups of adventurers, purging evil and doing their best to bring joy to the world.

Notables: Miryladon the Fair was a Harmony Dragon famous for saving the Paradise Plateau from a plague-spreading lich and establishing it as a safe haven for dragonkind.

Organizations: Because there are rarely more than one Harmony Dragon in the world at one time, they do not form organizations of their own, although they are known to associate closely with dragons, humans, and elves, and are happy to join a band of any of the three.

NPC Reactions: Most good or neutral aligned NPCs are very friendly towards Harmony Dragons, whether because of their status as a bringer of good times, or because of their charming music.
