Rarely,a Dwarf and Human fall in love, and even less often, a child is born from this. Such a child is a Half-Dwarf. Half-Dwarves are incredible sturdy, and will still be on their feet once all their allies have already fallen. They are also very wise, and know the history of both Humans and Dwarves. While they are often respected in Dwarf society, due to their endurance, if they grow up with Humans, they are seen as a second class humans.
Play a Half-Dwarf if you want...
- To be a tough and wise person.
- To protect your allies by staying in front of them.
- To combine the best features of both Humans and Dwarves
- To be a member of a race that favors the Cleric, Warlord and Paladin classes.
Physical Qualities
Half-Dwarves are as tall as a large dwarf, and a slightly lighter. They resemble a Human in many ways, but are sturdier built and have less agility. Their hair is a dark-reddish color and they have dark skin. Their maximal age is about 120 years.
Playing a Half-Dwarf
Half-Dwarves will not often be found in Human villages, even if they grow up there, they will likely leave once the villagers start rejecting him. If they grow up in a Dwarven village, however, they will be accepted and sometimes even admired for their toughness. There's at least one case known of a Dwarven village being ruled by a Half-Dwarf. Half-Dwarves will sometimes just roam the world, looking for somebody else who's like them. Half-Dwarves can also be very stubborn, but they call it `proudness' themselves.
Half-Dwarf Characteristics: Bold, Brave, Wise, Stubborn, Proud, Hard-working, Silent, Vengefull
Names: Half-Dwarves get a Dwarven or Human name, depending on where they grow up.
Half-Dwarf Adventurers
Three sample Half-Dwarf adventurers are described below.
Eberk is a Half-Dwarf Cleric of Moradin. He grew up in a Dwarven village, but couldn't stop wondering if there were other Half-Dwarves. When an adventurers party visited the town, he decided to go travelling with them. He likes the new freedom he has, but he sometimes wonders if he made the right choice. He is sometimes afraid that Moradin will reject him because he left his clan and family behind.
Diesa is a Half-Dwarf Warlord. She leads a small army of dwarves against the orcs attacking her village. She can't help but think of how it would've been if she was raised in the city, by her mother. She dreams of going to search for her, but is also afraid that the Humans in the city may become angry if they learn that her mother fell in love with a dwarf.
Quinn is a Half-Dwarf Paladin of Bane. He was born in the city, but his parents were banished when the people learned that they had a child. Since then, Quinn has been a bitter and angry person, whose only wish is to someday destroy the city that rejected his parents.
