Burghal Guldarine

Guldarine (3.5e Race) It is recommended one looks at the general race first.

These are the 'common' guldarine who live in many different cities, towns, and sometimes farms or such, where they interact with a great variety of different peoples. They are generally the most accepting, advanced, and civil, rather than tribal. It is widely believed that this is the reason they lost their beast form, when long ago they parted from the wilderness and embraced the life of civilization. This is also the reason that many think they have their signature ability to occasionally see a brief glimpse into the future.

Personality

Burghal are the kindliest and arguably most trustworthy of all guldarin types. They love meeting new people, and are eager to invite them in and get to know them. If one is in need, these guls are the ones to go to, giving someone they've become fond of any healing, supplies, rest, food, etc. that they may need. However, they are not stupid, nor are they gullible, and will not tolerate any unkind or manipulative behavior.

Many of this species are very hearty, and love going to taverns and parties. Because of their fascination with strangers, they are very likely to become innkeepers, healers, or other occupations that interact a lot with people. They also love to dance, and will do it on a whim, even out in the middle of town. Burghal as well are very picky eaters, and most appreciate a fine cuisine, which is why they refuse to scavenge the kills of other creatures. Partly because of this, partly because they just love animals, burghal are very likely to be ranch hands, farmers, and gardeners, so as to be able to cultivate their own living, and love animals that give them various supplies without needing to die, such as cows, sheep, and chickens. They are also quite fond of horses.

The burghal subrace is most likely to favor metallic objects, be it jewelry, weapons, statuettes, etc. Most believe this is because of their separation from their wild roots. In terms of rest, they sleep about eight hours at night, like humans, and prefer large cushion-y beds.

Pups are very quick learners, and raised with careful love and guidance, and taught early on to be open, yet watchful of strangers and their customs.

Physical Description

Burghal are generally within the size norms of humans. While any of the species can have scales of any color, burghal typically have dull colored, yet shiny, skin. They can have markings of any hue, as long as it's not a very large portion of their body, and hair is usually a color natural for humans. The hands and feet of this race are typically smaller than their wild cousins, with smaller and duller claws. The large dewclaw on their feet is very often removed at birth. For some unknown reason, they smell of vanilla, as their form of body odor.

Pups are born their main body color only, with no markings and usually no hair. Egg color guidelines are the same as for the species - any dull color, though it is only one color. They are extremely smooth and cool to the touch, though very easy to break. They can be kept at any temperature between 40 and 73 degrees F.

Relations

As mentioned, burghal get along with pretty much everybody indiscriminately. They are most likely to bump heads with those that do not share their love of fun and conversation.

Alignment

Burghal can be as widely aligned as humans, though only a minority are evil.

Lands

They live in large cities or small towns, working somewhere that is sure to give them a lot of patrons.

Religion

These are most likely of all the subraces to venerate a certain god, usually one of fun or sociability.

Language

Other than Guldine, burghal can have a host of languages they speak. They tend to be most fond of fancy sounding or ancient languages, such as Draconic, Elven, or an outsider language. Every one of them is taught Common as soon as they are able to speak.

Names

Names can be as varied as the many kinds of races one is exposed to, from ones of orcs to elves to gnomes.

Racial Traits

  • +4 Intelligence, +2 Dexterity, -4 Constitution; Burghal love to learn new things and with their smaller hands and claws are able to do more intricate things with them, but are not used to the harsher environment of non-city living.
  • Monstrous Humanoid (Guldarin)
  • Medium - nothing is modified based on their size
  • Burghal base land speed is 30 feet.
  • Minor Prophecy (Su) 1d4 times per week: A random vision, in consciousness, sleep, or other unconsciousness, gives the burghal a brief, concealed glimpse of future events. It is up to the guldarin to figure out this puzzle, though it is not necessarily an important event.
  • Automatic Languages: Guldine and Common. Bonus Languages: Any.
  • Favored Class: Cleric. With the compulsion to help people so prevalent, being able to both defend and heal is a popular trait amongst adventurers.

I apologize, but I do not understand how the random weight part works... Both genders weigh anywhere between 100-300 lbs, depending on their height.

gollark: I mean, if you use a language supporting no IO whatsoever, it may not help.
gollark: But is generally awful.

gollark: Facebook used PHP, if I remember correctly.
gollark: Yes, you should probably not focus on the exact details.
