Gelatinous Ooze

A large mass moves towards you, slithering and sliding slowly along the cavern floor. As it comes closer, it raises out of the puddle of itself, forming a somewhat humanoid form. It seems to look at you curiously.

Physical Description

Art by Nicholas Wood

Gelatinous Oozes are a form of Gelatinous Cube that have become sentient through magical means, and taken on a more humanoid form. They can range from a clear faint blue to a rather opaque bright green. Although they are amorphous creatures, they prefer to take the form of the humanoid race that they are most familiar with. Their height can range anywhere from 5 feet to 8 feet tall, and their weight varies greatly, although typically weighing close to 1,000 pounds.

History

Society

Gelatinous cubes are generally solitary creatures, but when gifted with intelligence (usually by the influence of their creator, the demon lord Juiblex), they can begin seeking out the company of other intelligent creatures. This may be to hunt them, learn more about them, or simply just because they are lonely. It is not uncommon for such an intelligent cube to come across and join an adventuring party, as they are the only creatures who are mad enough to enter the places that these oozes would normally live.
