Gardevoir

Physical Description

A Gardevoir Source

Gardevoir are human-like creatures with round heads and rather thin bodies. They have greenish hair that curves around their feather-like ears in the back and curves downward in the front ending near their nose. Their skin is white and seems to flow like a dress with certain areas having the same color green as their hair, those areas being the sides of the torso and the arms, giving the appearance of a long-sleeved vest of sorts. Because their skin-dress can grow to such lengths that it drags, Gardevoir will often bind the skin to keep it from doing so. Their arms are rather thin, like their legs, and have 3 "fingers" at the end. Eyes of a pinkish or reddish color adorn their face, and a red "horn", which is said to be its heart, protrudes from their chest.

Some Gardevoir have been known to have a very light purplish skin color instead of white, and blue-colored hair instead of green. Their eyes and chest-horn are an orangish color as well. One such Gardevoir was said to be the companion of a princess from a technologically advanced kingdom.

Even stranger was the case of a Gardevoir that supposedly had red skin and hair instead of green, but the underside of its dress-skin, which ordinarily matches the hair color, was the usual green. Rumor has it that this specimen was an incredible fighter.

Their appearance has often led to the idea that only females exist, although this is simply not true, although the rumor that their dress-like skin indicates that they are expert dancers has yielded inconclusive results...

History

It's said that Gardevoir are angels that chose to live on Earth instead of Heaven, although no one really knows where they came from. Contact with this race was first made on a tropical island called Hoenn, where it is believed the race actually originates from. It was only recently that a variant of this race was discovered in the far-off region of Kalos.

Gardevoir are, more often than not, lawful good-aligned, but very rare instances of evil Gardevoir exist. One such case is a legend in Kalos that speaks of a Gardevoir with blue hair and black dress-skin that did battle against the mythical Volcanion. While not much of the legend has been preserved, this Gardevoir was supposedly known as the "Cruel Traitor".

Society

Gardevoir tend to live solitary lives in forested or near urban areas and don't have much of a society to speak of. However, if there is one thing Gardevoir are known the most for, it's their undying loyalty to any who form a close bond with them. Such is their devotion to those they care for that they will not only give their lives to protect such individuals, but will even expend most of their psychic energy to rip open black holes in the name of protecting their companions. However, since such an act has yet to be officially documented, it is thought to either be just an exaggeration simply to emphasize the kind of power Gardevoir possess, or that only certain Gardevoir possess such a capability.

Gardevoir Names

Because of their rather feminine appearance, most believe that either all Gardevoir are female or that males are rare. However, such beliefs are untrue, though this idea may have been propagated through the existence of Gallade, who some consider to be "Male Gardevoir". Their names are usually Elven or Sylvan, but Gardevoir with Common names are not out of the ordinary.

gollark: Do you have any criteria? You should start having those.
gollark: Wars and pandemics *now* affect everyone while historical ones did not.
gollark: I'd say the problems are more problematic now. Due to greater scale and complexity.
gollark: Without technology we would just have been wiped out in some random population bottleneck.
gollark: There are ways to make things continue to work. I don't know if people will actually do them, but still.
