Fool King's Sword (5e Trap)
Fool King's Sword
Magical Trap
- Difficulty
- 1-4
This sword is lodged in a stone inside a closed area. There is a plaque reading "The adventurer to remove this sword from its rocky prison will be the king"
- Trigger
- Removing the sword requires a DC 12 strength check and triggers the trap
- Effect
- When the sword is removed, the creature who removed it is affected by hideous laughter(DC 13). In addition, the room begins to crumble. Every round, 2 bricks fall from the ceiling. 2 random creatures inside the room must make a DC 13 Dexterity save or take 1d6 damage. After 3 rounds, the room collapses, creatures still inside take 4d8 bludgeoning damage.
- Countermeasures
A DC 15 Wisdom(Perception) check can show the plaque is partially covered in dirt. A DC 12 Intelligence(Investigation) shows that the covered text reads "of fools"
- Rewards
The sword is a +1 longsword with a curse that anyone who touches it is affected by the spell, hideous laughter. This can be removed with the remove curse spell.

gollark: I was looking into blu-ray discs for backup, but it would be somewhat annoying and expensive so I decided to just not.
gollark: Consider: they cost 4x or so as much, so you could just buy 4 hard disks of the same capacity. Also, they lose data if left unplugged over months.
gollark: Something something electromigration. It's worse at high temperatures.
gollark: Can you not just swap the flash chip, or is that utterly impossible?
