Fallen Angel

Physical Description

Fallen angels have an appearance similar to their angel counterparts with their wings. However, their wings are colored black as opposed to the angels' white wings. Also, because they have been cast out of Heaven by God, they lack the halos above their heads. They have black or dark colored hair and multi-colored eyes, going from gold to violet, green or even blue, and are often seen wearing dark-colored clothes, mainly pertaining to the colors black and a secondary color, to match with their wing and eye color. The blackness of the wings of each fallen angel is also different. Azazel, for example, has jet-black wings with feathers that have the color of everlasting darkness.

History

Fallen angels are angels that have fallen from the grace of God, due to having "impure thoughts" that divert them from the teachings of God in the Bible. The leaders of Grigori were tempted by human women and had fallen after having sex with them. As they fell from grace, their hair took on darker hues of red, black and other colors while their wings turned black from sin's taint.

Despite being cast out of Heaven, fallen angels and their subordinates have been known to occupy churches and use them as bases. However, they go out of their way to destroy all of the religious icons in these churches in the process out of spite for their former leader.

Society

After falling from grace, the angels recouped in churches, taking them over and amassing power among the earthly beings, forming the Grigori, which is a congregation of the fallen angels and the main force in their society. Grigori is an organization created by Azazel and the fallen angels who fell with him. They were also called "The Watchers of the Children of God", representing the whole of fallen angel population. The members of Grigori include exiled church members, which could be human empathizers, or powerful wielders of divine tools called Sacred Gears. These tools are revered and coveted by the organization, who would promote anyone that could use them to a high rank. Grigori invite or take in possessors of Sacred Gears that have no family and are left alone, looking after these Sacred Gear possessors while training them on how to use their powers, turning them into experienced possessors to remain within the organization.

The leaders of Grigori are Azazel, Shemhazai, Baraqiel, Kokabiel, Armaros, Sahariel, Penemue, and Tamiel. These were the first angels to have fallen, proselytizing their cause to others. Azazel, being the original instigator, holds the highest regard.

During the Great War, Grigori was the first to retreat after losing most of their forces, except for their leaders. Ever since then, Azazel has become more peaceful and tries to avoid battles as much as possible. However, there were still small fights between the fallen angels and non-Grigori sympathizers which did not reach Azazel's knowledge. Due to losing more of its top-brass members and the decreasing rate of natural-born fallen angels, Grigori has fallen considerably in power, allowing small splinter sects to arise and challenge its power, bringing tumult to their society.

The fallen angels have started going into the entertainment industry in the Underworld, where they have started to make vacation homes for powerful allies. This is part of Azazel's newer nonviolent diplomacy policies.

Personality

The fallen angels have very close relationships with those who are close to them, but since they were banished by the deity they have many trust issues with strangers. The fallen angels will do anything for those very close to them. However, for strangers or mere acquaintances, they will not hesitate to leave them to die unless there is a sure reward that is worth it. Fallen angels love to tempt fate, as they do not believe it truly exists. Thus, they also have a tendency to like gambling. To date, the Grigori has hosted 316 mahjong competitions since conception.

Although Fallen tend not to trust strangers that does not stop them from trying to manipulate them for their benefit, Using their cunning wit or lovely charms to get what they want. Stories and rumors of fallen angels have always painted them in a bad light, with most shunning gods and being called heretics by the churches. While most of the fallen have rejected the gods. There are still some few exceptions who wish to try and redeem themselves in their god's eye.
