Fairy (3.5e Race)

Fairies

Fairies are mischievous embodiments of the forces of nature. Each fairy has a little bit of power of a natural phenomenon, which can be earth, water, ice, etc. Fairies are short lived but their ability to Reincarnate is astounding.

Personality

Fairies are charismatic, energetic, and love to play. Fairies do what they please when they can, which often involves the innocent but dangerous mischief they are so well known for, such as getting travelers lost or the occasional slapstick trap. Fairies tend to be gung-ho about everything, mostly because of their slow wit and general lack of knowledge as well as their altered concept of life and death thanks to their ability to Reincarnate.

Physical Description

Fairies look like small humans, but sport a pair (or multiple pairs) of stocky wings. These wings are usually a reflection of the fairy's natural affinity. For example, an Ice fairy will often have wings made of Icicles, while a Fire fairy might have small jets of flame for wings. Their hair is usually also a color reminescent of their elemental origins. A Thunder fairy might have striking blonde hair, while an Earth fairy might have mottled brown hair or even a thick bald head.

Relations

Fairies tend to enjoy the company of anyone who treats them well, having no specific qualms about any race in particular. Thus it is easy to befriend a fairy if it isn't trying to prank you. If anything, the biggest basis on what races a fairy does or does not get along with will be its own personal experiences, mainly due to the fact that fairies tend not to spread word (at least not accurately) about their own bad run-ins with miscreants and other thugs. Thus fairies tend to only know what kinds of people they dont like based upon what groups have abused them personally.

Alignment

Being part of nature, Fairies tend to always have at least one Neutral alignment, and as they often shun organized society and being governed, they also tend toward Chaotic.

Lands

While fairies have no actual lands of their own, they are, to put it bluntly, everywhere. Fairies spring up wherever nature has a foothold, and the way nature has manifested itself is often the deciding factor in what kinds of fairies will be how common in those areas. On the ocean, Water Fairies are all but ubiquitous, while Fire Fairies only pop up in volcanos or during Forest fires. Although fairies tend to spawn from their own elements, they have no trouble leaving where they first came to life, and often can explore the world asmuch as they like, and they usually do.

Religion

Fairies do not tend to care too much about religion: Since they merely reincarnate whenever they die, they have not wondered what happens after they die, they just reincarnate! to that end, they have not had the trigger for seeking out a deity to know and understand. Thus almost no fairies are Religious, seeing a religious fairy, even in the vast multitude of fairies that appear, might not even be once in a lifetime.

Language

Fairies speak common, but lack the capacity to learn other languages.

Names

Fairies tend to have no set structure of names, and usually have to name themselves, so they tend to just pick a name that sounds good to them.
