Edmiryl (3.5e Equipment)
Edmiryl is a magical alloy of mithral and adamantine. This ultrahard metal adds to the quality of weapons, suits of armor, and any other item made of it. Weapons fashioned from edmiryl ignore hardness below 30. An armor made of edmiryl grants its wearer damage reduction of 4/- if it’s light armor, 8/- if it’s medium armor, and 12/- if it’s heavy armor, and, due to of the metal's high melting point, it grants the wearer fire resistance 10 (edmiryl shields also have this special quality). Edmiryl weapons and armors cost four times as much as adamantine ones, while weighing 1/2 as much. This causes most edmiryl armors to be one category lighter than normal for purposes of movement and other limitations. Heavy armors are treated as medium armors, and medium armors are treated as light armors, however light armors are still treated as ones. Spell failure chances for armors and shields made of edmiryl are decreased by 10%, the maximum Dexterity bonus is increased by 2, and armor check penalties are lowered by 3 (to a minimum of 0). Edmiryl is also immune to acid damage and all corrosive effects. Due to the magic in the metal, it costs 1/2 the regular price to add magical qualities to edmiryl items. Weapons, armor and shields normally made of steel that are made of edmiryl have twice more hit points than normal. Edmiryl has 60 hit points per inch of thickness and hardness 30.
Edmiryl weapons are always magical and epic (+6) level, and are treated as both Silver, Adamantine and Cold Iron weapons for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.
Edmiryl isn't created through simple alloying; in order to create the metal, magical energy must be transferred into the alloy during the alloying. This transferred energy must be at least equivalent to that of a 7th level spell (effectively sacrificing a 7th level spell slot or prepared spell). If this doesn't performed, the resulted metal isn't true edmiryl, rather pseudo-edmiryl, which isn't magical and lack the immunity to acid and corrosion as well as the decreasing in enchantment cost, and is only treated as Adamantine for the purpose of overcoming RD.
