How does swinging on a rope work exactly?

I have a question about using a rope. What sort of DC should be used when swinging from one platform to another using a rope. You know, like Indiana Jones or Tarzan. I have a pirate campain going and this is comming up a lot.

Maybe a Use Rope Check, although Climb or Grapple could be used too...

But what would the DC be?

Off-hand, I'd say the DC is based on Climb check modifiers (depending on how easy it is to grip said rope, are we holding rough ship rope or oil-slicked monofiliment?). The distance swung is not so important as staying on, but if you like, +1 per 10 ft swung is fine with me.

Well if climbing an unknotted rope is DC 15, maybe the DC for simply holding onto an unknotted rope would be 10. And if the distance is 20 feet it would be DC 12. That is what I am going to use next time it comes up in game unless some one else has another sugestion.

Do it!
