A new kind of experience points?
It can sometimes be difficult to get players to pay attention to their character's basic comforts. Sleeping on the cold ground instead of on a warm mattress makes no difference to the player. And no matter how many ales the character drinks, the player couldn't really care less. In effort to make the comforts and pleasures of the characters more important to the players, what about an introduction of Pleasure Points? A character's Pleasure Points must match his Experience Points for him (or her) to proceed to the next level. Perhaps 1 Pleasure Point for every night the character has a pillow to lay his head on, 1-4 points for a good mug of drink, perhaps 100 points for a night spent carousing, drinking, dancing, and such. I'm not sure I would include this rule in my games, but I think it at least worthwhile considering. Please share your opinions.--Sir Dinadan (talk) 11:23, 25 October 2013 (MDT)
- If you or any DM has trouble with players not treating their characters' bodies right, please feel free to use the fatigue and exhaustion rules for sleeping on the hard ground or walking to far in one day in the Adventuring chapter in the PHB. I'm not sure if there is a rule for this in any books but i have my players roll Fort saves when drinking for each drink with DCs based off of it's power, and if an adventurer overdoes it then they get hungover(kinda screws with prepared spellcasters for the whole day and everyone else for anything before mid afternoon). Don't make it so an adventurer who worked hard to earn experience has to wait because they have low Fort and don't have tavern busting parties every night in town, just penalize them for not treating thier bodies with care making it harder to earn those wonderful exp points.Mordred the dark (talk) 18:25, 14 October 2014 (MDT)
