Daemonfey (4e Race)

Daemonfey

Occasionally Elves, Eladrin, Drow and other fey humanoids mate with the daemons of the Abyss. If they survive the following offspring can be quite fearsome in battle yet their loyalties are as questionable as their appearance. While some of their race are capable of denying their demonic heritage outright and living as a commoner, most fall prey to their instincts and sadistic pleasures to maim, kill, and enslave. Yet others still have managed to tame the powers of the Abyss and maintain their sanity and moral code. These rare Daemonfey are faster, stronger, and more cunning than their mortal counterparts, however it is nearly impossible for them to be accepted as themselves. You are one of the members of this race both cursed and blessed by your blood.

The originally known Daemonfey were a mix of the ancient sun elves of Cormanthyr(Myth Drannor) and the Daemons of the Abyss. However many who claim the title of Daemonfey are in fact simply Fey'ri. Fey'ri are more elf than Daemon and have lessened Abyssal powers along with less startling appearances.

Play an Daemonfey if you want...

  • To overcome the prejudices of your race, or use them to your gain
  • To be considered beautiful by many and dangerous by all
  • To be lithe and fast as an Elf yet as powerful or cunning as a Daemon
  • To be a member of a race that favors the Ranger, Fighter, Bladesinger, and Rogue classes.

Physical Qualities

Due to the various types of Daemons that live in the Abyss most Daemonfey vary in appearance greatly. Skin, hair, and eye color varies, some have small horns, uselessly sized wings, thin whiplike tails, horns, along with other physical and elemental differences in power. Nevertheless, all Daemonfey are lithe creatures with the physical qualities and obviously Elven beauty with their thin limbs, sharp features and almond shaped eyes yet menacingly Abyssal deviations.

Playing a Daemonfey

While most Daemonfey remain morally unaffected by their Daemonic heritage many are inclined towards good by their Elf or Eladrin background. Even some surface Drow raised Daemonfey are biased towards good even though they are twice damned by their appearance in their quest for acceptance. On the other hand most Half-Drow Daemonfey and some Elves or Eladrin can be easily corrupted or turn towards evil when they can'd find a home, are constantly chased out of towns and assaulted.

Daemonfey Characteristics: Daemonfey vary greatly in that they can be realistic, pessimistic, optimistic, sadistic, self-righteous, arrogant, humble or even change their moods on a whim.

Male Names: Typical male names of their mortal parents.

Female Names: Typical female names of their mortal parents.

Daemonfey Adventurers

Three sample Daemonfey adventurers are described below.

Malkyr is a typical denizen of the Underdark with his ruthless ambition and cutthroat attitude towards his peers in Menzobarrenzan. However his mixed blood has gained him Lolth's favor and a higher station in his life.

Araemin is a Daemonfey Half-Eladrin Bladesinger who, after saving his queen from certain death at the hand of a devil, has gained honor and acceptance amongst the people of his nation through acts of valor and courage.

Juvariel is a Daemonfey Half-Elf who struck out to join a mercenary company after being asked to leave by his wood elf chieftan after revealing his true nature and was rejected by other "friends". He figured that the only place for an outcast is amongst other outcasts. In his company his prowess in battle has earned him acceptance amongst his company and a fair share of wealth.
