Private! They have four legs with claws that tear heavy armor, and a pair of arms that will either bash your body to a pulp or use another comrade to smear your brain all over the wall! Now stir some steel in that body of yours and release the hounds upon them, for we must fight teeth with teeth, and fire with fire!
—Captain Alexander Abrahms, 1st Battalion of the Purple Dragon Knights, Chronicles of the Dragon Wars.

During the chaos of the Blood War between the denizens of the Abyss and the Nine Hells, a legendary Infernal Planar Dragon by the name of Karnifax the Red began to forge in secret a plan he dreamed would change the views concerning all dragonkind. By making a pact discretely with Mystra, Karnifax over centuries mastered the powers of the Spellfire, using Blood Magic with a powerful artifact known as the Eclipsing Elixir, which contained the blood of Shadow, Black, Swamp, and Deep Dragons. For a perilously long week, Karnifax wrought his art in isolation, where only the echoes of magic igniting and bursts of effects created a cacophony of suspense-rising thrill. When time had lapsed far enough, Karnifax the Red emerged with a beaming expression of triumph, for there in his cave was a nest of twelve dragon eggs whose scaly pigmentation were cosmic swirls of red and black hues. Karnifax then departed from the Nine Hells in secret, traversing to the Material Plane where on the Continent of Osse, deep within it's jungles, he incubated and protected his legacy. The race known to the Osslanders as the "Dākufaiā Dragon" were far from what you'd expect in a typical Dragon, but this didn't mean they weren't true dragon-blooded, but were instead a new spawn of intelligence and prowess testing the boundaries of nature one century at a time.

From the hip down, the Dākufaiā had a draconic lower half, where scales are a deep crimson red with patterns along the spine following down to the tail, that resembled closely to a Coral Snake's but were smokey hues of grey faded into charcoal black with small spines adorning it's surface. From the torso upward, Dākufaiā are fair-skinned humanoids maintaining particularly attractive human complexions, though patches of scales along the arms and shoulders with slit reptilian eyes give away their heritage more visibly than a Yuan-Ti Pureblood. The Dākufaiā stand eight feet tall, weighing approximately 2100-2300 pounds, with a total length of twenty-five feet from front to tip of tail. Their horns often curl in elongated manners during growth, much like a ram's horns but curling straight backwards being obsidian black with a glowing red tip that is quite literally hot to the touch when succumbing to bouts of anger.

Religion

Dākufaiā are temperamental dragontaur who abstain from following Bahamut or Tiamut due to their personal religious warring, finding it too confrontational and absurd, thus worshiping draconian deities who are primarily unheard of or less well known.

Alignment

Tending towards the entire Neutrality spectrum, as being tempered during their growth by all the whimsical aspects of nature, Dākufaiā are firm believers in fighting for their own destiny and futures. Only in rare extreme cases are members of the dragontaur race settled in cultured settlements where either Lawful Good claims them due to a prominent protective personality, or becoming convinced that pacifism is as toxic as becoming disillusioned by the world, refusing to seeing it as a hopelessly despairing world of little value.

Relations

The Dākufaiā are most friendly with draconic and reptilian creatures, often trading and consorting with the tribal lizard-folk and other reptiles. They are neutral towards other races, but easily provoked by arrogant and rude behaviors.

Combat

Dākufaiā are intelligent, proud, and skilled. They are slow to anger, but once angered, are unforgiving dragontaurs with powerful strength. They are competitive, willing to turn most things into a competition or game, such as slaying foes (often counting kills) though not meaninglessly as all kills must be purposeful in that it serves more than just selfish desires. Dākufaiā Dragons are sly and devious. They are instinctively cunning and are not prone to taking risks, though they're not above thievery especially when it pertains to attracting mates that are true dragons, or collecting trinkets that contains particular knowledge not widely known. They are not the type to enter conflicts unless in defense of themselves or allies, finding wars meddlesome, and therefore take great efforts in isolating themselves from political affairs.

Special Abilities

Hellfire (Su)

The magical fiery energy of the Nine Hells; half of the damage from hellfire is fire damage, and half is unholy energy that bypasses fire resistance and immunity.

Breath Weapon (Su)

A Dākufaiā’s breath weapon is a torrent of acid and Hellfire that is 15 feet long, 5 feet wide, and 5 feet high. Creatures caught in the torrent must make a Reflex save for half damage (DC 10 + 1/2 creature’s racial HD + creature’s Con modifier), or take both fire and acid damage according to the Dākufaiā's age category; a successful saving throw vs. breath weapon reduces the loss to ½ (round up). Acid Damage dealt to creatures persists for 1d6 turns, dealing an additional 1d6 acid damage and causing nausea. Furthermore, A creature that fails its save against a Dākufaiā Dragon’s breath weapon can’t benefit from morale bonuses for 1 minute. If the creature fails another save against the breath weapon during this time, it is staggered for 1 round. Once used, the breath attack must wait to recharge for 1d6 rounds.

Charm Reptiles (Sp)

A great wyrm Dākufaiā Dragon can use this ability three times per day. It works as a mass charm spell that affects only reptilian animals. The dragon can communicate with any charmed reptiles as though casting a speak with animals spell. This ability is the equivalent of a 1st-level spell.

gollark: No, it is late and I require RAM for PotatOS Project 113.
gollark: Oh, I totally can.
gollark: It was basically a jokey idea because lemmmy wanted it. But it would be simple to implement on top of my existing well-tested automatic lasing code.
gollark: You could really have used my laser lawnmower technology.
gollark: But now I have durability-free thorns/protection/aqua affinity/respiration armor so that's nice.
