Custodian (5e Subclass)

Custodian

Custodians are fighters that use superior defensive teqniques to control the battlefield, as well as their enemy with their shields. With great dicipline and believing the best offense is defense, custodians overcome most situations with their great combat strategies. Custodians inspire many fighters with their superior actions in combat, this makes them great leaders for warzones.

Great Balance Teqnique

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you learn a custodian fighting teqnique that allows you to adapt both defense and offense situations. When you use a shield and hold a weapon on your other hand, you gain +1 to attack and damage rolls. You can forgo this bonus to gain +1 to your ac. At the start of your turn, you can change between bonuses. You cannot gain this benefit if you are incapacitated.

True Block

Also at 3rd level, you learn a shield teqnique that requires you to push your limits. With great effort and energy, you can overcome attack with your shield, which would normally hit you. You have 1+your proficiency bonus true block charges. When a creature hits you with an attack, you can choose to spend one charge to block that attack, doing so makes the attack deal no damage. You cannot use true block if the attack is a critical hit, when you are surprised and when the total damage of the attack is equal to or more than half of your hit point maximum. You regain all your true block charges when you finish a short or long rest.

Inspiring Lead

At 7th level, your superior actions in combat inspires your allies. When you use true block, any ally that is 10ft of you gains the effects of bless spell until the start of your next turn.

Relentless Defender

At 10th level, when you roll initiative and don't have any true block charges, you regain one.

Resilience of the Mountain

At 15th level, your resilience makes you stand up for critical injuries. When you get a critical hit, the extra damage you take from that critical hit is reduced equal to your fighter level.

Mythic Recovery

At 18th level, your tireless body for battle can overcome the injuries you have. As a bonus action when you have less than half of your hit points remaining, you can regain a number of hit points equal to half your hit point maximum. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.

gollark: It's simultaneously extremely smart and really stupid.
gollark: It's a relatively modern thing I think. I saw an article on this at some point, although I have now almost entirely forgotten it.
gollark: That looks bad.
gollark: Try not doing that.
gollark: That sounds somewhat not safe.
