College of Necromancy (5e Subclass)

College of Necromancy

This College is for those Bards who wish to use their power of song to raise people and creatures from the dead and command them to do your bidding. Most College members have a dark sense of humor and prefer the company of the dead to that of the living. Necromancy Bards often go to recently pillaged villages and battlefields to claim bodies for themselves. They usually use their powers for evil, but there are always some exceptions.

Bonus Proficiency

When you join the College of Necromancy at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with the Stealth and Survival skills. If you have proficiency already with one of them, you can pick any other skill. You learn Toll the Dead cantrip, and this does not count against the number of cantrips known.

Harming Beat

Beginning at level 3, you learn how to use your voice to harm your foes. As a bonus action, you can expend one or more uses of your uses of Bardic Inspiration to deal damage to an enemy you previously damaged on this turn that can hear you. You deal Necrotic damage equal to the total number of Bardic Inspiration Dice you used + your Charisma modifier.

Deadly Presence

At 6th level, you learn Animate Dead, Ray of Enfeeblement, and Blight. The spells count as Bard spells for you but don’t count against the number of Bard spells you know.

Strum of Death

At 14th level, you learn the spell Circle of Death, which you can cast without the material components nor spell slot and during the day. You can use this spell once. You regain all uses of this spell when you finish a long rest. When you reach level 20, you can cast the spell at 9th level when using this feature.

gollark: Um, can someone help debug?
gollark: I have no clue why, but despite working fine in the JS version, the Lua version completely refuses to work with skynet.
gollark: Er, reload...
gollark: Well, it's done, now to reboot the server...
gollark: But don't actually commit the changes for a few minutes because I'm just compiling skynet in release mode.
