Author's Note
These are fairly typical city guards, hired and trained to keep order in the city. They are issued better equipment than those in the countryside and tend to see more action than quiet towns. They are also more experienced in detecting when a suspect is bluffing and watching for anything suspicious. In a poorer city cheaper armour such as chain shirt may have to suffice. If a situation requires they have access to shields and other supplies from the garrisons, though these aren't normally carried for standard patrol duty.

gollark: AutoBotRobot simply does not refer to users.
gollark: ... `of`, not `in`; thanks javascript.
gollark: Only if you add better diagnostics into RPNCalcV4.
gollark: What?
gollark: I have no idea what my reasons actually were but I don't care very much apart from mildly disliking them for arbitrary reasons.
