Citizen of Hell

A citizen of hell is basically a different term for the lost soul of a sinner that was condemned to hell, the soul is now tormented by there sins and has become consumed by their vices.

Physical Description

Citizens of hell come in various shapes and sizes, though most tend to have the basic humanoid form they can also show features of a more animalistic, insectoid, demonic or monstrous nature or any combination in between.

The difference in appearance can range from simple thing such as their skin or the number of eyes they have, to much more dramatic changes such as being bestial or serpent like in appearance or having multiple limbs.

Each citizens form is altered depending on a multitude of factors, each facror representing the corrupted and malformed parts of who they were as a person.

These factors range from the following:

• Aspects of their personality

• Aspects of there personal history

• An emphasis on a particularly strong vices they posses

• The sin / sins they committed while alive

• The severity / number of the sins they committed while alive

• And a representation of how they died

If you want to have a running theme between how these aspects change your character or an NPC's appearance you can discuss it with your GM.

History

For as long as there have been mortals capable of sin there has been a hell. Of course it wasn't always a mega city, so as the millennia passed and civilisation evolved so did hell.

Over time many devil and demon lords have come and gone in an ever raging turf war, with the one constant being is the royalty of hell.

Many have tried to topple the royalty of hell. Each and everyone has failed, and each time they were made an example of.

Its only in recent centuries that hell has become over populated, as such the yearly purge was introduced. Mainly to deal with over population and also as a means culling the weak and keeping the lords scrapping amongst themselves.

Society

Citizen society is that of violence and vice, though they live in what passes as a civilised society in hell.

There society is more a kin to a vast mega city run by powerful mafia or gangs, where corruption is wide spread and those who cant defend themselves don't last long.

But in recent centuries hell has become over populated, in a bid to solve this issue once a year the city of hell goes through a purge. During the purge anarchy engulfs the city and any demons that are weak or cant afford protection are easily eliminated.

If a powerful demon is severally weakened or killed during the purge this leaves a power vacuum resulting in turf wars that can leave devastation throughout the city.

Suggested Characteristics

For the most part citizens of hell are generally not pleasant people to be around, they are selfish, greedy, crude and cruel to put thing lightly after all they are in hell for a reason.

But every now and then you might find a soul that is seeking redemption. Either through the odd act of virtue or helping others, of course they try to keep this hidden as any weakness is quickly exploited in the mega city of hell.
