Circle of Dragons, Variant (5e Subclass)

Circle of Dragons (Variant 2)

Just an altered version of Circle of Dragons with a bit of the Circle of Reptiles and Circle of Birds and Beasts mixed in after Circle of Dragons seemed to resemble a Druid with Draconic Sorcery too much. While I left a couple things as they were, I thought these modifications sat well with the idea of a Druid and their connection with nature/natural life as it was meant to be.

Draconic Telepathy

Starting at 2nd level, you gain the ability to telepathically communicate with all Dragons, Kobold, Dragonborn, Lizardmen, or any race/ creature with Reptilian/ Dragon blood. within a range of 60 feet that you can see or whose location you are aware of. The recipient of this telepathic link can communicate back through it. You additionally at level 2 learn the language Draconic

Draconic Forms

When you choose this circle at 2nd level, you gain the ability to use Wild Shape on your turn as a bonus action, rather than as an action.

The rites of your circle grant you the ability to transform into more dangerous forms. Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Wild Shape to transform into a form of a dragon or reptilian with a challenge rating as high as 1 (you ignore the Max. CR column of the Beast Shapes table as well as the other limitations there.). If you use Wild Shape to transform into a beast (other then a Reptilian), you must follow the Max CR value listed on the Beast Shapes table. Starting at 5th level, you can use your Wild Shape to transform into a form of a dragon or reptilian with a challenge rating as high as 2.

Starting at 6th level, you can transform into a reptilian or dragon with a challenge rating as high as your level divided by 2, rounded down.

Starting at 4th level, you gain the Dragon Spells feature.

Dragon Spells

Beginning at 4th level, you can cast dragon spells while in a Dragon form you assumed using Wild Shape. (ie. Faerie dragon's innate spell casting of: minor illusion , mage hand and dancing lights, but keep in mind Dragon spells unless noted otherwise use Charisma ability score for casting spells and that does not change when wild shaped.) while in that form. You can perform the somatic and verbal components of a druid spell while in a dragon shape, but you aren’t able to provide material components. You gain this benefit only in your dragon shape from Wild Shape.

Druidic Companion

At 5th level you gain a dragon that follows him/her around and helps him out in a variety of ways. Choose a dragon that is no larger than Medium and that has a challenge rating of 2 or lower. Add your proficiency bonus to the beast’s AC, attack rolls, and damage rolls, as well as to any saving throws and skills it is proficient in. Its hit point maximum equals its normal maximum or four times your druid level, whichever is higher. Regardless of its normal alignment, your dragon companion's alignment matches your own.

The dragon obeys your commands as best as it can. It takes its turn on your initiative immediately after yours. Once you have the Extra Attack feature, the dragon companion also receives another Attack action. When your dragon companion makes an attack action it can can attack twice, instead of once, whenever it takes the Attack action.

Like any creature, the dragon can spend Hit Dice during a short rest. If you are incapacitated or absent, the dragon acts on its own, focusing on protecting you and itself. It never requires your command to use its reaction, such as when making an opportunity attack.

Exceptional Training

Beginning at 7th level, you can use a bonus action to command the dragon to take the Dash, Disengage, Dodge, or Help action on its turn.

Dragons Fury

Beginning at 11th level, your dragon companion can attack three times, instead of twice, whenever it takes the Attack action.

Draconic Instincts

Starting at 6th level, you gain proficiency in all Intelligence checks related to recalling information about dragons, and all Wisdom (Survival) checks related to tracking dragons. If you already have proficiency in these skills, you gain double proficiency under these circumstances.

In addition, your attacks in a dragon form count as magical for the purposes of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.

Draconic Tuning

At 10th level, you gain the ability to sprout a pair of dragon wings from your back, gaining a flying speed equal to your current speed. You can create these wings as a bonus action on your turn. There speed is twice your walking speed. They last until you dismiss them as a bonus action on your turn. You can’t manifest your wings while wearing armor unless the armor is made to accommodate them, and clothing not made to accommodate your wings might be destroyed when you manifest them.

Draconic Mastery

Starting at 14th level, you have completely mastered your ability to wild shape into dragons. You can expend two uses of your wild shape at the same time to transform into a Dragon with a challenge rating of 10 or lower. The duration of this transformation is a number of hours equal to your druid level divided by 4 rounded down. Additionally your Dragon Spells subclass feature now allows you to also cast druid spells in Dragon forms.

Starting at level 17, you can use two uses of Wild Shape to take the form of any Adult Dragon. The duration of this transformatin is 5 hours at this level. At 17th level you regain your wild shapes after every short rest.

Additionally, you can ignore the verbal and somatic components of your dragon spells subclass feature, but now you also ignore any material components that lack a cost and aren’t consumed by a spell. You gain this benefit only in your dragon shape from Wild Shape.

Draconic Legacy

You gain this feature at level 20. Having dedicated your life to the ways of the Circle of Dragons, you gain a portion of the dragon's famed lifespan in your base form. For every 20 years, you only age 1.
