Ceremonial armor is common in societies and countries where wearing armor is prestigious but the wearer has no intention of actually wearing a crude, simple set of armor. Ceremonial armor is gaudy, highly decorated and often nigh-useless when it comes to actually saving your life. Ceremonial armor does provide a slight armor bonus to AC due to its bulky nature and design, but it tends to weigh one down much more than normal armor and is much more expensive, due to the expensive decoration.
Light ceremonial armor comes in various designs: it might be a collection of finely-sewn furs and leathers, a complex and fancy leather get-up or an intricate mesh of gilded chain. Medium ceremonial armor might be an ebony-hued breastplate with elaborate insignia, an ocean-themed scale mail with lapis lazuli decorations, or a mix-up of clashing armor fashions. Heavy ceremonial armor is most often made to resemble the full plate of knights, but can also be found in various other styles of bulky armor.
