Cartridges (3.5e Equipment)
A single cartridge comprises of a pre-measured amount of gunpowder and a bullet wrapped in paper. In order to load a muzzle-loading firearm with a cartridge, you must tear off the base of the cartridge, pour the powder down the barrel, and then ram the bullet down the barrel (either removed from the paper, wrapped in wadding, or with the paper as wadding).

Once a cartridge is used, the powder and paper components of the cartridge are considered destroyed. The bullet component of the cartridge is destroyed if it hits its target; a bullet that misses its target has a 50% chance of being destroyed. An undestroyed bullet can be used again, but requires gunpowder in order to use.
Prices and weights are for ten cartridges. The stats used are for paper cartridges. Cartridges are treated as any other projectile weapon ammunition for the purposes of masterwork cost, magical/psionic enhancement, and spells.
