Cannon Spear (3.5e Equipment)
As per its name, the cannon spear is a rather bulky longspear that has a short round cannon barrel closed with a lid just below the spearhead and with a flint hammer at the back of the barrel. When packed with gunpowder and a cannonball, the cannon can fire as a ranged weapon. (But make sure you open the barrel first.) Reloading the cannon takes two full round actions, one to place the gunpowder, and another to place the cannonball.

Note: The feat Rapid Reload can be applied to reduce total reload time to one full round action, and Instant Reload to reduce reload time to a move action.
As setting the cannon to fire requires the wielder to open the lid and move the spearhead away from the tip of the weapon, the spear can not be set against a charge when preparing to fire. Until the lid is closed, the cannon spear can not be used as a piercing weapon.
