Layering Armour

Maximum armour:

You can have a maximum of 2 armours, 1 reinforcement, and 1 helmet.

Layering armour:
If adding medium and light together, see adding light armour.
If adding two mediums together, see adding medium armour.
If heavy helmet and heavy reinforcements are worn together in a light armour, the armour then becomes medium. If heavy helmet and heavy reinforcements are worn together in a medium armour, the armour then becomes heavy.
Adding light armour:

Use the highest DR of the two, and the worst max dex, ACP, and ASF. Add the stats of light additional armour, and add the weight of the two armours.

Adding medium:

Use the highest DR of the two, and the worst max dex, ACP, and ASF. Add the stats of medium/heavy additional armour, and add the weight of the two armours. Two medium armours become heavy.

Masterwork armour and layering:

Both armours must be masterwork in order for the masterwork quality to apply. The masterwork quality is only applied once.

Mitril and armour layering:

The mithril quality is only added after the armour's type is calculated.

Example:

Regdar wishes to wear mithril mail with mithril plate. Two medium armours become heavy, and applying the mitril quality then makes Regdar's armour medium.

Armour Description

All primary armours cover the torso, upper arms, and upper legs.

Reinforcements are the addition of bracers and greaves. Light can typically be described as padded leather plates or studded leather, and heavy can include mail, plate, and scale.

Padded:
This padded jacket is called a Gambeson. Gambesons are produced by quilting wool and linen, and may be layered or stuffed. Stuffing material can include wool, scrap cloth, and hair. It extends from wrists to mid or lower thigh.
Leather:
"Leather" armour may be a lamellar hauberk or cuir boilli plate harness.
Lamellar is made of small overlapping plates, known as lames, sewn to one another and is referred to as a lamellar hauberk. Lamellar hauberks are typically split down the sides and groin. It extend over the shoulders, and down to the lower thigh.
Cuir boilli consists of stiff leather plates made of boiled leather. A cuir boilli plate harness resembles one made of steel, consisting of a cuirass, spaulders, and tassets.
Studded:
This armour consists of a thick leather vest with metal plates riveted or sewn on. There are gaps between the plates showing the leather underneath, and the plates may be disc, rectangular, or square shaped. Sometimes coins are used as plates, a style especially popular with orcs. The leather vest is typically made in two pieces joined at the shoulders and sides. Limb protection consists of overlapping pieces of leather, riveted together. The limb rivets may or may not be similar to the vest rivets. A studded leather vest is called a kuyak.
Hide:
This is more of a clothing outfit than an actual armour. Hide is made of thick animal hides sewn together and covers from wrist to lower thigh.

Mail:
A mail shirt is typically referred to as a mail hauberk or haubergeon and extends from elbow to knee. Smaller versions are called burnies which are short sleeved shirts or vests. Longer versions extend all the way to the wrists, and may even include mittons, which are also referred to as hauberks.
Scale:

Scale consists of metal scales sewn to a leather backing. They cover from elbow to knee, and are called scale hauberks. Alternatively, it could also descride brigandine

Banded:
Banded armour is made of overlapping horrizontal strips of plates, and includes spaulders and tassets.
It could alternately be plated mail sewn to a thick leather backing.
Plate:
Plate armour includes cuirass, spaulders, and tassets.
Helmets:

Helmet descriptions may be anything within reason and subject to dm approval. Light helmets are typically spangenhelms complete with nasal. Heavy helmets include ocular helms with aventails.

Reinforcements:
Reinforcement descriptions may be anything within reason and are subject to dm approval. Reinforcements are vambraces and lower leg protectors. Light may include leather plate, studded leather, and jack chains. Heavy includes plate and mail.
Shields:
Bucklers are gripped in the middle and are not strapped to the forearm as typical d&d ones are. They are typically made of steel or wood and include a metal shield boss. When a buckler is made of wood and lacks a shield boss, they are sometimes called a target shield. Wooden bucklers and target shields are covered in leather or linen.
Light shields include small round shields and heater shields. These shields are usually made of wood, sometimes with a layer leather or linen for reinforcement, and may include a metal shield boss.
Heavy shields include large round shields, kite shields, and large heater shields. These shields are usually made of wood, sometimes with a layer leather or linen for reinforcement, and may include a metal shield boss.

gollark: I mean, generally speaking, any player can remove about 16-24 generic eggs from the cave per day and then dump them somewhere, with about 10 minutes of work. Obviously, if you want to gather nongeneric ones you either need more time or lower targets.
