Archdevil (5e Race)

This page is of questionable balance. Reason: A minimum of +5 to a max of +7 total ASIs, infinite use of a 1st level spell, two damage resistances, a flying speed, a condition immunity and resistance, scaling past 5th level, not to forget everything else in the subraces. This one is a bit of a mess.

Archdevil

Hello, I´m the creator of this race, before reading it I must warn you, this one is a powerful race and should only be used for high level games, I want to give an advice too, if you are going to use an archdevil as your race the easist way of making your character exist is to say that another archdevil gave you birth by meanings of a dark bless or a corruption and finally if it help´s with the campaign I made a item called ´´The Scythe of The End´´ You can read about it and get some ideas for your DM to use it, you may be a chosen of Abaddon or a champion of darkness. By the way, all the lore of the race is original based on a campaign I made, so have fun

Physical Description

Archdevils do not have a defined appearance, since they are born they remain as gaseous, blurry, gloomy.... humanoid forms, this is something that they do not decide, what they do have is a very curious dark blessing, an archdevil can imagine himself in the the way they want with the name they want and the sex they want, the first time they imagine this and make sure of their choice a new appereance will born replacing the one from before and becoming the new original form, something curious is that after having decided this they will stay with that appearance and the only way of hidding it will be with disguise magic or returning to the gaseous, blurry or gloomy form, but, even if the archdevil goes back to that their true and only real form will continue to be the first one they chosen, not even a Wish spell can change this. An important detail about their not so defined appearance is that each one gives different skills so not many archdevils are from the same type or have similar skills, because of that people think that the archdevils are representations of many things such as misery or despair, and the more a bad thing happens the more people thinks that an archdevil is being born or there are more of that kind, for example, if a kingdom falls into disgrace the people of the kingdom may think that it is the fault of a particulary type of archdevil and because they suffer with it they give them more power and probabilities for a new archdevil of that type to be born, even thought that is not true many kings and gods have tried to make their territories safe and nice, just to see if with that they can stop the birth of new dark ones or maybe reduce their power.

History

Archdevils exist since the start of time, being born from the most gruesome depths of the abyss they hold the darkness and annilate all light, many think that the abyss of this creatures is the same for demons, what a cruel and pity thought, no demon will ever be so brave and stupid to make that comparation, not even the demon lords, specially those are the ones who hold the biggest quantity of fear, an archdevil is despair and misery, more than that, when the last glimer of hope fades and the brave ones shy from their duty, when even the gods despair and shout out loud for help the archdevils grab their hearts and crasp them as if they were nothing, then they proceed to make them suffer with the most horrible methods, once a god tried to ally with 2 demon lords with the objective of defeating one archdevil, the first demon lord accepted and the other one rejected and even adviced them ´´If you follow that path.... Your suffering will be legendary´´ The two of them were defeated, but not killed, no one knows where they are but at the same time everyone knows abouth their punishment, sometimes it´s audible, the crying of a demon lord and the screams of a fallen god, going back to their history archdevils are one of the minor races, the number of them isn´t exact because with illusions and sinester tricks they hide and changeshape so a single one could make lots of characters, there may be atleast 10 of them, the most remarcable names among archdevils are Abaddon and Balzabub, Abaddon is known as the King of Despair and Balzabub as The Lord of Silence, Abaddon is feared by all creatures, even the greater gods prefer to respect him and don´t mind his business, it is even thought that Asmodeus is a disciple of Abaddon and all hell bows before him, Balzabub is something quite similar, but he is not benerated by hell, he is more like a Grim Reaper, Balzabub made some contracts with deities and other important figures and gained control over death, if he wasn´t an archdevil he would the Greater God of death, but life isn´t that beautiful and all the people that dies have to see his face, he doesn´t make this for vocation, he is just bored and finds entertainment on this kind of work, in the end Archdevils could be resumed as the Dark ones, it doesn´t matter how hard you try, it doesn´t matter how yo do it, if there is space for light it must be for darkness and Archdevils are the rulers of it.


Society

The quantity of archdevils is little so they do not have much to see about their society, but even if they do not have traditions or anything like that many cultures adopt them as deities of darkness or old and fiery enemies that you must not awaken or call their atention, moreover there are many myths of the archdevil´s that can tell somethings about them (These myths can be at the discretion of the Dungeon Master, but I am going to leave you guys 1 here so you can get on going)

Here he comes, he approaches, he rides the miseries and with them the choirs of the souls in pain, he is closer and closer, oh fate why are you so cruel all of a sudden? Here he comes, the destroyer, the finisher, the terrifying,the silencer, death, misfortune, calamity, adversity. The scourge of sinners, the punisher of the wicked, he is closer and closer and oh his steed more and more stomps, raises his sword, folds his wings and spread misery, oh Abaddon mighty redeeming angel, forgive our sins, we will let the edge of your leaf decides to alight in the hearts of the deserving, oh Abaddon mighty god of despair keep on going so we can keep taking hearth of our actions.

Archdevil Names

Archdevil´s: Abaddon, Balzabub, Xhantanael, Graham, Embazel, Ialdabaoth, Uriel.

As it is said on the physical description archdevil´s choose their own appearence and sex, so i´ll just leave here some names you can use, I just group them all together because at the start they don´t even have a sex and it can be interesting for players to choose a name at the start and change it later when they decide their appearence or something like that.

Archdevil Traits

Ability Score Increase. Your Strength or Dexterity score increases by 1 and your Constitution score increases by 1.
Age. A common Archdevil is an old being, maturing at 500 and living for an unknown time. They are effectively immortal, many people think that they even revive when killed, but, as it has been mentiones already, they can be killed.
Alignment. Archdevils lean towards the evil alignment, all of them start their lives being lawful or chaotic evil, but with time they change their minds becoming only lawful evil, chaotic neutral or even chaotic good due to their ambition of having fun they may do good actions.
Size. Your size is medium
Speed. Your base walking speed is 40
Devil´s Sight. Your sneaky and vicious eyes grants you an incredible capability of vision, you can see in normal and magical darkness within 120 feet as if it were bright light.
In all shapes and flavours. You can innately cast disguise self without requering to spend any spell slot, in addition to this your creature type is considered to be both humanoid and fiend.
Devil´s skin. Thanks to your dark and hideous nature and the place you were born you are since your birth a resistant being, you are resistant to both damages fire and necrotic.
Devil´s Wings. Even thought it is not seen at the start because of your appearence you can become even more creepy, using an acion you can materialize a pair of sinester wing´s on your back, this wing´s are blue as murky waters, your flying speed is of 45 feet.
Archdevil´s mind. Your mind isn´t a beautiful place for anyone except for you, because of that it is your impenetrable temple, you have advantge on saving throws against being charmed and you are immune to fear.
Archdevil´s contract. If two or more parties, one of them being the Archdevil, decide they wish to, the Archdevil may magically create a contract. The contract details an agreement between the two or more parties. Once the contract is signed by all parties, it is binding. If any party breaks the binding contract without an agreement between all parties to break it, the offending party suffers disadvantage on all attack rolls and saving throws for the next 24 hours. You gain the ability to telepathically talk to those you have a contract with.
More than a simple weapon. Your bare hands count as natural weapons that scale with level, at first your (Claws, fists....) do 1d4 of bludgenoing or slashing damage depending on your apareance, if you have claws slashing and if you have normal fists bludgenoing, you can use dexterity or strenght if you got claws and only strength if you got fists, in addition to that damage you deal an extra 1d4 necrotic damage, when you reach level 7 your damage increases to 1d6 in both sides and when you reach level 15 the damage becames 1d8 in both sides and any creature that is hit by you must succed on a constitution saving throw agains your DC or be poisoned.
Persuasive. Thanks to things as your silver tongue you gain proficiency on persuasion.
Subrace. Pick one subrace between gaseous, blurry or gloomy
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common, Infernal and Abyssal,

Subrace Gaseous born

Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma increases by 2 When picking this subrace your charisma ability score improves by 2 moreover you are more tendent to be chaotic neutral or lawful evil
Ashtonising presence. Each creature that can see you in both, you gaseous form or chosen form, will think of you as someone with a lot of experience feeling overhelmed, thanks to that you will always have advantage on your first charisma (persuasion) check against them.
I may be here but..... Thanks to your gaseous form you can be very hard to touch, when you are in your gaseous form you can go anywhere if it at least offers a small space to pass, and if you take a full turn to stop without moving you will be immune to all weapons damage until the start of your next turn, while doing that you can be hit by magic and you will automatically fail your saving throws based on dexterity.
Favored toy. Choose two creature types, with the first one you are more able to get along, those of that type will always start seeing you as someone of trust and will try to be your friends at first, the other type will be your hated ones, this ones can know that are being hated by you when you talk to them and will not hesitate to be irrespectful and don´t help you if the situation allows it.
¿Not working?. Thanks to your form you are immune to poison damage and to the condition of being poisoned, this trait function even when yo are not in your gaseous form moreover when you are on your gaseous, and only on your gaseous, you are immune to be grappeled and knocked prone.
Big Bad Boss. Once a day you can extend your yourself as if it was mist on a 30 feet radius (60 at level 14) when you do that the surroindings are considered to be filled with magical darkness and you will gain a +10 bonus to your movement, this expansion will last until the end of your next turn.


Subrace Gloomy born

Ability Score Increase. Your Wisdom increases by 2 When picking this subrace your wisdom ability score improves by 2 moreover you are more tendent to be neutral evil or chaotic good
I am here buddy..... As a bonus action you can open fully open your eyes showing everyone an eyes that glow on incandescent color, this sinester act will make that everyone that can see you have to make a wisdom saving throw against you DC, if they succed nothing happens, if they fail they will be under the effects of the ´´fear´´ conditions agains your self, a creature can repeat it´s saving throw at the end of each of it´s turns becoming immune for 24 horas to his bonus action in they succed.
There is more that you can see. As an action you extend your arms to either side and begin to shift reality to your surroundings, everything within a 30 foot radius (60 at 14th level) is affected multiple times by the 'minor illusion' cantrip in addition to this all creatures in the area will take 2d6 psychic damage (At 5th level this increases to 4d6 and at 14th level to 8d6)
Favored toy. Choose two creature types, with the first one you are more able to get along, those of that type will always start seeing you as someone of trust and will try to be your friends at first, the other type will be your hated ones, this ones can know that are being hated by you when you talk to them and will not hesitate to be irrespectful and don´t help you if the situation allows it.
Not going to happen. Thanks to your form you are immune to poison damage and to the condition of being poisoned, this trait function even when yo are not in your gloomy form moreover when you are on your gloomy, and only on your gloomy, you are immune to be stunned and defeaned.
Big Bad Boss. Once a day you can extend your yourself as if the reality around you was going insane on a 30 feet radius (60 at level 14) when you do that lots of illusions start appearing, this have only 1 hp and 10 of AC, they have the same bonus to attack like you and all their attacks deal 1d6 necrotic damage (1d8 at level 9 and 1d10 at level 14) the quantity of ilusions is equal you your wisdom modifier plus a 1d4 (1d6 at level 10).


Subrace Blurry born

Ability Score Increase. Your Intelligence increases by 2 When picking this subrace your intelligence ability score improves by 2 moreover you are more tendent to be chaotic evil or lawful neutral
¿Can´t you see?. As a bonus action you can make your shape become increasingly blurred to the point where you will be difficult to distinguish in the environment around you, until you are hit by an attack the attacks against you will have a disadvantage, to perform this bonus action again you must recharge it on a roll of 1d6, if it comes out on 5-6 you will be able to use this bonus action again
¡Over there my friend!. When you are going to be hitted by an attack you can use your reaction and make a telepatical order to the one who is attacking you, if the creature isn´t immune to charm you can make a charisma (persuasion) roll against his DC, if you fail nothing happens if you succed you can redirect the attack to another direction, if someone is on the new direction the attacant must make an attack roll against it AC, hitting him if he pass the armor class. You must recharge this reaction with a 1d6 roll getting it back on a 5-6.

Choose two creature types, with the first one you are more able to get along, those of that type will always start seeing you as someone of trust and will try to be your friends at first, the other type will be your hated ones, this ones can know that are being hated by you when you talk to them and will not hesitate to be irrespectful and don´t help you if the situation allows it.
¿Wanna try?. Thanks to your form you are immune to poison damage and to the condition of being poisoned, this trait function even when yo are not in your blurry form moreover when you are on your blurry, and only on your blurry, you are immune to be petrified and blinded
Big Bad Boss. Once a day you can extend your yourself as if it was corruption on a 30 feet radius (60 at level 14) when you do that the surroindings are considered to be difficult terrain and all the attacks made except yours have disadvantage.
