Arcane tutor (5e Subclass)

Arcane Tutor

Wizard Subclass

The arcane tutor is a wizard who spent all their early life studying magic and due to their indecisive nature decided to specialize in a more generalist way of magic

Tutored knowledge

Starting at 2nd level, you learn two languages of your choice. You also become proficient in two skills of your choice, excluding Acrobatics and Athletics. Additionally, you gain proficiency in any two tools of your choice, as shown in the Tools table on page 154 of the Player's Handbook. You also learn one extra spell per level

Ritual mastery

Also starting at 2nd level when you take this tradition, you can copy any ritual spells of 1st level or higher you find into your spellbook, even if they are not normally found in the Wizard spell list. These non-wizard spells take twice the normal time and gold to transcribe, and must still be of a level for which you have spell slots. Once you have spent this time and money, you can prepare and cast the spell as if they were wizard spells.

Arcane mastery

By 6th level, you have plundered magical knowledge from a wide spectrum of disciplines. Instead of selecting your two free spells as normal, you can instead choose two spells from any class, including this one. A spell you choose must be of a level for which you have spell slots.

Once added to your spellbook, you can prepare and cast these spells as if they were Wizard spells.

The two free spells you learn at 10th and 14th level can be chosen in the same fashion.

When you reach 14th level, you may also learn two cantrip from any class, including this one. This cantrip counts as a Wizard cantrip for you, but does not count against your number of cantrips known.

Extra Teaching

At 10th level, choose two of your skill proficiencies and two of your tool proficiencies. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make that uses any of those proficiencies.

Sagely mastery

At 14th level, your studies have granted you a wide breadth of knowledge. Whenever you make an ability check using Intelligence or Wisdom that lets you add your proficiency bonus, you can treat a d20 roll of 9 or lower as a 10.
