Class Features

All of the following are class features of the Arcane Chef.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Arcane Chefs are proficient with Combat Frying Pans, Battle Cookbooks, Cleavers, Military Forks, and Great Cleavers. Arcane Chefs gain no proficiency with any armor.

Spells: To cast a particular spell, you must have an Intelligence score of at least 10 + the spell's level. Your bonus spells are based on your Intelligence. Saves to avoid the effects of your spells have a DC of 10 + the spell's level + your Int bonus (if any).

You cast spells as a wizard does. Table: Arcane Chef Spells Known, below, details how many spells you can learn at each level. Choose these spells from the following list:

Cooking Master (Ex): The Arcane Chef adds his caster level as a competence bonus to Craft (Cooking) and Profession (Cook) checks.

Tablecloth Familiar (Ex): At first level the Arcane Chef picks his favorite tablecloth and imbues it with magic. This tablecloth gains sentience and operates as a familiar from the wizard class, and consumes any familiar gained from another class. 3 times/day the tablecloth can set itself, as if over a wooden table, at the high most comfortable for the Arcane Chef. It summons invisible chairs around itself, 1/ Caster Level (max 8), each tailored to a member of the dining party. The table cloth has the supernatural ability to consume mundane kitchenware (up to 40 lbs.) that it uses to set the table in perfect order. It can be forced to regurgitate all held kitchenware with the used of a successful dispel magic (DC 15 + Class level) This tablecloth has fly 40 ft (perfect), and can have dimensions up to 6x6ft. When not in use as a tablecloth it operates as a magical cloak, wrapping itself around the chef. Any attempt to wear a cloak other than the familiar will result in the tablecloth consuming and destroying offending cloak, and taking its rightful place. Magical cloaks get a Fort save (DC 16). It cannot, however, lift the Arcane Chef into the air by itself, though if the Arcane Chef casts fly it follows with no trouble. The table cloth has the base stats of a raven, and advances as a familiar in the same ways as a wizards familiar normally would.

Restorative Meal (Su): By cooking for 30 minutes an Arcane Chef may produce a meal (which takes 30 minutes to consume) that possesses healing properties of a magical nature. Its powers grow with the Arcane Chef. At 1st level it restores 1d8 damage + 2 points per caster level(max 10). At 3rd level it restores 2d8 damage + 2 points per caster level(max 20) and removes fatigue (and reduces exhaustion to fatigue). At 5th level it restores 4d8 damage + 2 points per caster level(max 30), removes exhaustion, and restores 1 point of ability damage. A restorative meal may be created up to 1 + Con modifier times per day (minimum 1). This effect stacks with magical effects on food gained from another class.

Preservatives (Ex): At 2nd level, using their expert knowledge of food, an Arcane Chef can mimic the effects of an Unguent of Timelessness on any article of mundane food via various salt-packing methods and sealed containers. An Arcane Chef can create trail rations per day with a Craft(Food) check DC 10 +2 per additional person. Any food crafting materials gained that day from the Survival skill still applies the same movement speed penalty.

Craft Magic Foods: At 2nd level, the Arcane Chef can now imbue spells into his meals in a similar way the Brew Potion feat does. However, this process does not take XP, simply gold, the normal cooking time, and the required spells on hand. In addition only potions, not oils, can be made into food. The duration of all spells used in this manner have their duration decreased to 1 round per class level. Levels from other spell casting classes stack for the purposes of this effect. The effect of the spell is not expended immediately, it can be used at any point in the next 24 hours, or until a new meal has been consumed. Being magical food and subject to rot, and requiring time to eat, it is not able to be preserved by the Arcane Chef, and must be eaten within 24 hours, or it will go bad.

Food of Temptation (Su): At 3rd level and beyond, the food prepared by an Arcane Chef is so exquisite that it would even tame a dragon into friendly attitude. He may imbue his food with a "Charm Monster" property. At first sight, the magic food mimics the effect of Fascination. The DC is 10+ Craft(Cooking) ranks+ Int modifier. A victim gets a -4 penalty if he already tasted to the Arcane Chef's fine cuisine. Once feasting, the victim must make another will save , where the DC equals the Craft(Cooking) result of the Arcane Chef or become Charmed. In addition, given the necessary amount of time to cook a good meal, an Arcane Chef may roll a Craft(Cooking) check instead of a Diplomacy check. He may not, however, take 10 on this check.

Keep it Fresh (Sp): Cooking is important, but keeping the meals fresh and tasty is another game. At third level, the Arcane Chef learns how to mimic the effect of Permanent Ice Emanation. However, this emanation may only be cast on the inside of a box, room, or Bag of Holding, with a maximum of 1700 cube feet (a typical room). After all, fresh ingredients are the key for fine cuisine.

Hot And Ready (Ex): Arcane Chefs are just like the meal they prepare; always Hot and Ready. At 4th level, an Arcane chef may use twice per day a Sudden Quicken on any spell they cast, as long as they have the [Fire] Descriptor. This spell uses the slot of a spell of the same level, as opposed to the normal four slot higher penalty.

Meal to Go (Ex): Adventurers are tough clients. Their food must be good-tasting, good-looking, come in small, individual packages, be ready fast and yet weight almost nothing! After those years of experience, the Arcane Chef learns how to compact any food article to a half of its original size and weight, without making any compromise on the quality, the taste, the quantity or the magical proprieties (if any) of the meal.

Instant Meal (Ex): Perfect for Rush Hours, the Arcane Chef learns how to mimic the effect of the spells Major Creation and Fabricate, that he can use thrice per day to create an instant meal. The normal craft check must still be made. This ability counts as a use of her Restorative Meal and Magic Food abilities, and has the effect of both.

gollark: So, if you rightclick a modem, it tells you the name of peripherals on it, yes?
gollark: Also, minor but probably important QoL thing: please make it so that you can click the license key to copy it to clipboards like you can with peripheral names.
gollark: It's more a thing of random BIOS additions and making compatibility with potatOS more annoying.
gollark: I like the websocket chatbox idea, but please don't add the event conversion thing as yet another background coroutine.
gollark: Real OS dev is very hard. Bodging together other work is ez.
