1399 (Tiberium Rising Supplement)
The Last Pure Era
This is the last era of Vasuda in which Tiberium had not begun spreading (Though some believe Tiberium may have been spreading throughout Madagai by this time).
The Discovery of the Brotherhood
During a routine bust of several petty criminals in Parsé, Knight Commander Kriss Amucire (pronounced AM-uh-KIRE) discovered one of the captured criminals carried a series of letters, each emblazoned with the motif of the Nod (Though almost no one could have recognized it as such at the time). The petty thief who carried the letters, Wolf Beo (pronounced BAY-oh) was offered immunity from the charges if he would explain the significance of the symbol. Beo lead Amucire to Cairo, an important outpost for the Brotherhood of Nod. Kriss Amucire was given a tour of the base. Amucire later described "a feeling of unnease, as though I could no longer feel the strength of my faith." Many point out this is similar to a feeling many religious members have when in the presence of Tiberium, and say the Brotherhood had Tiberium at Cairo. The Brotherhood has never commented on this.
Days after visiting Cairo, Kriss Amucire returned to Parsé, and began organizing a task force. Kriss told of a vision, in which Saint Cuthbert ordered him to destroy the Nod, saying the Brothers were heretics. This vision is a source of great contreversy. It was completely out of character with most religious experiences and visions reported by the Church. Furthermore, Amucire took the Task Force without any explanation to his superiors. Defenders of Amucire argue the stakes were incredibly high, with the future of Tiberium at stake. Saint Cuthbert had to appeal to Amucire, in an attempt to maintain his contact with Vasuda.
Whatever the reason, Amucire lead a small army to the gates of Cairo, and began to siege the small outpost. The walls tall were enough to keep any Knights from scaling them, and while they weren't particularly thick, the soft sand that covered the wide expanse of the Desert and the inhospitable heat prevented the Templar from bringing any trebuchets or catapults. The Templar's plan was to simply starve the Brothers into submission. As night fell on the desert, the defenders of Cairo emerged, armed with MK. 1 Hand Pitals. Although the brothers were equipped with unheard of weaponry and had the element of surprise, the Knights were trained to keep fighting, no matter what. The Templar's superior training overwhelmed the un-trained guards of the Temple. Cairo was immediately sealed, and for the next few days couldn't get any supplies. Just before the outpost's supplies ran out, though, Amucire's Task Force was recalled to Parsé. Amucire was reprimanded for taking a military detachment against a group that had committed no act of aggression. Amucire was taken out of command, and would have been excommunicated had his record not been spotless, and his tale of Cuthbert having given him the mission. Thus, the First Knights' Templar - Nod War ended in a draw.
Historians point to Kriss Amucire's attack as the start of Templar-Nod enmity. While few go so far as to say the Church and the Nod wouldn't have fought later wars, most agree the relationship between the two factions could have been more amicable if not for Amucire's invasion.
The Brotherhood Unvieled
In the months following the draw at Cairo, the Brotherhood revealed itself to the world. The message of the Nod was published publicly for the first time ever. People across Vasuda flocked to the newly established Temples of Nod, hoping to join. The Nod's message of unity attracted people who felt abandoned by society. For the most part, though, few paid much attention to the new Organization prior to the introduction of Tiberium.
Meanwhile, the Nod revealed their true specialty to the Church. For months after KT-NW 1, over 20 high ranking church officials were assassinated. While the Nod could never be directly implicated in the murders, it was clear to the Templar these were reparations for the attack of Cairo.
Tiberium Discovered
In a small hamlet known as Tiber, between the three Nochston Mines, a villager discovered the first amount of Pod Tiberium. Not being a particularly imaginative fellow, he named the substance "Tiberium", and notified Cambridge University. In the ensuing years, Tiberium was found throughout the world. When the substance was found to stop Divine contact, the Church declared the substance profane, and used the Templar to eliminate the substance. The Broterhood began spreading word, saying that the substance will lead to Ascension. Though a few armed conflicts occurred between Knights and Brothers, the groups mostly argued peacefully over Tiberium. Tiberium continued to spread, though areas controlled by the Church were kept clean.
