Despite being composed of two oscillators of smaller period (3 and 8 respectively), it is considered non-trivial because it has two cells that are alive in one generation and dead in the other 23, and two more otherwise period-8 cells that are alive in one additional generation.
Commonness
On Catagolue, it is the second most common period 24 oscillator, being less common than the similar boring p24.[1]
The uninteresting p24 first appeared naturally on January 25, 2016, in a soup found by Apple Bottom.[2]
gollark: Except citronsion.
gollark: Potentially. Who knows, really.
gollark: While my software is capable of bidding faster, this may anger the citronian one.
gollark: They told me 3Hz before.
gollark: Oh bee, it is possible that they are asleep or something and will not answer.
