Mosquito 3
Mosquito 3 is a breeder and 75-cell quadratic growth pattern that was found by Nick Gotts in October 1998. At the time of its discovery, it was the smallest known pattern exhibiting superlinear growth (passing the former record holder mosquito 2), but it was surpassed by mosquito 4 a few days later.

Its size reduction from mosquito 2 comes in part from it having one fewer lightweight spaceship. It is somewhat different from the earlier mosquitos in that the switch engines it makes are glider-producing rather than block-laying.
