Inflation

Inflation is the process of replacing each cell in a pattern, live or dead, with a larger m×n rectangle of cells in the same state.

Inflation of a 4×4 soup to 8×8.

Inflation can be thought of as taking the Kronecker product of, in order, a given pattern and an m×n matrix of ones.

Uses

apgsearch 4.x (apgluxe) supports inflation of soups of arbitrary symmetry by a factor of 2n×2n by prefixing the i operator to the desired symmetry n times.

gollark: Well, docker can impose some kind of CPU/RAM limits.
gollark: rule four. muahahaha.
gollark: Another significant issue is that I can't actually conveniently autoprovision VMs somehow, so I would either have to:- set up docker- just have people upload projects and have me manage service files- do that?
gollark: Also network bandwidth, since it's on a 34/8 home connection. That's the main limitation, really.
gollark: Wait, how much disk space does this take? My server only has 1TB.
