Inflation

Inflation is the process of replacing each cell in a pattern, live or dead, with a larger m×n rectangle of cells in the same state.

Inflation of a 4×4 soup to 8×8.

Inflation can be thought of as taking the Kronecker product of, in order, a given pattern and an m×n matrix of ones.

Uses

apgsearch 4.x (apgluxe) supports inflation of soups of arbitrary symmetry by a factor of 2n×2n by prefixing the i operator to the desired symmetry n times.

gollark: It's a guesstimation.
gollark: Yes, 90% of projects is probably a better phrasing.
gollark: Completely unsafe, type system which basically just involves `void*` for anything fancy like "data structures", and also use Rust.
gollark: I mean, yes, lots of stuff uses it, but it's bad for 90% of uses.
gollark: Don't use C, though.
