Converter
A converter is a conduit that takes one type of active object (such as a glider or a century) as an input, and turns it into another (such as a middleweight spaceship or a Herschel).
If the output spaceship is more complex than the input spaceship, this can be called an upconverter; contrariwise, a conduit which converts a more complex object into a simpler one is a downconverter.
