101 is a period-5 oscillator that was found by Achim Flammenkamp on August 19, 1994.[1] The name was suggested by Bill Gosper, noting that one of its phases displays the period in binary.

A 64-glider synthesis of this oscillator was found by Entity Valkyrie on January 10, 2020,[2] which was reduced to 51 gliders by Jeremy Tan soon after.[3]
