Blackbox

Blackbox is a lightweight stacking window manager. It was last updated November 3, 2005 with no plans for future releases, however its design has inspired many forks and spiritual successors. An updated version of the original CVS source plus collected packages is maintained at BlackBox GitHub.

Installation

Install the blackbox package.

Starting

Run blackbox with xinit.

Utilities

There are several additional packages to enhance the functionality of Blackbox (though they may also work well with other minimalist window managers):

  • bbrunAUR a run dialog for starting programs
  • bbpager a pager
  • bbkeysAUR configures keyboard shortcuts

gollark: *And* PRIME actually works fine! This is better than anticipated supportwise.
gollark: Great, I may do so then.
gollark: Should I try a tiling WM or is this a path to madness?
