Yamatogawa

Yamatogawa is a relatively new^[when?] Mangaka who has written a number of one-shot and short series Hentai manga. He has a very distinctive, exceptionally well drawn artistic style.

His stories are, at their core, about the relationship between a guy and a girl, and them having a ton of sex with each other and anyone else nearby. They could be classified as Porn With Plot because of the ridiculously explicit sex, except most of them have coherent and well-written stories and humor that ranges from chuckle-inducing to flat-out hilarious. Of course, Your Mileage May Vary as to whether you think it's Porn with Plot or just Porn.

• Aqua Bless: A collection of many of his shorts, including:
  • Telepa Sweet: Woman has the psychic ability to "feel" other people having sex. A classmate comes across her having an attack. Hilarity Ensues.
  • Love and Travel: Couple win a tropical vacation, work on their relationship.
  • Cow Girl: Fan meets his favorite Idol, she's not as innocent as her public persona implies.
  • Twins: A rather funny take on the "hot for twins" fantasy.
  • Demon Squadron Matenger: Love backstage at a Kamen Rider Super SentaiToku stage show.
  • Train Woman: Densha Otoko gender flipped. To start.
  • Lady Impact: A put upon student is abducted to be the husband of a woman from one of the richest families in Japan, because he's number one, so to speak.
  • Winter Memory: An encounter on a ski vacation.

• Canvas: Art students discover that she is his muse.
• Tayu Tayu (short series): Boy goes back to hometown, reunites with his childhood friend, has sex with everyone. There's a teeny bit of drama when he ends up in a love triangle between his friend and her sister.
• Witchcraft (short series): Loser Guy accepts help from a mysterious lady in exchange for becoming her assistant, and has run-ins with his new employer's enemies and the Yakuza. Hilarity Ensues.
• Power Play (ongoing): A perverted demon king is accidentally reincarnated as a 28-year old Eroge designer on Earth, writing his repressed memories in his game. His faithful familiar (Sara, considering that this is an Alternate Universe to Witchcraft) finally locates him and tries to awaken him. Unfortunately, trouble is about to break out, as a three-girl Magic Knight squad with a grudge to settle with the demon king have just tracked him down. So far the prologue and the first six chapters have been translated as the story is currently serialized in the Comic Tenma magazine. A new chapter comes out every six or eight months.

• A Date with Rosie Palms: I think we all saw this coming, but Twins is notable.

• • Later, Sara hypnotizes Kaoru into "raping" Megumi as punishment for Megumi's Heel Face Turn. After several Beat Panels in which Sara looks increasingly distressed, a caption of "Thirty minutes later" and nobody feeling particularly punished, Sara finally yells at them to "cut it out".
• Bland-Name Product: Shinohara-san's "Camon EROS" camera in Cowgirl. Also counts as Punny Name.
• Boy Meets Girl: The starting point of most of his stories.
• Continuity Nod: Telepa Sweet 1.5 features the two characters from that story trying to go on just a normal date. Instead, they keep finding themselves in telepathy range of the characters from the other stories in the Aqua Bless collection, who are up to This and That, everywhere they go.
• Dark-Skinned Blond: Sara.
• Expy: Sara, its good to see Kaolla Su still getting work after Love Hina.
• Failure Is the Only Option: In Power Play, Sadaharu ultimately comes to this conclusion when trying to choose either Maria, Eclair, or Miina to guard him for the rest of his life.
• First Girl Wins: In Tayu Tayu she does, but so does everyone else.
  • Power Play plays it straight by having Sara being the winner to keep the Demon Sex King in check of Sadaharu.
• Genki Girl: More than a few of his female characters.
• Genre Savvy: A lot of the characters. The protagonist of Power Play (who was writing an eroge at the start) takes the cake.

• Hadaka Apron: Midori in Tayu-Tayu.
• Harem Genre: Witchcraft, Tayu Tayu, and Power Play.
• Harem Seeker: Double subverted in Power Play. As the reincarnation of the Evil Sex King, the protagonist is naturally expected to be this...but he really doesn't like the idea, for various reasons. After having sex with Maria, he's starting to consider it.
• Hentai
• Idol Singer: Hiromi is a rising, B-list Idol Singer in Cow Girl. Her biggest fan is shocked to run into her offstage letting off steam. The story then fills out her character by having her explaining how hard it is for her to constantly be Genki Girl in public and never be able to do things like a normal young woman.
• Kamen Rider/ Super Sentai: Demon Squadron Matenger in Aqua Bless has a homage, complete with Rider Kick Style Finishing Move.
• Kansai Regional Accent: The RallyT translation of Tayu Tayu incorporates this by using colloquialisms like "Why dontcha", "are ya gonna" and similar.
• Lighter and Softer: A lot of hentai can bridge on violent, overly-excessive or bittersweet to the point of Narm. All of his work up to now has plenty of Official Couples having happy sex and equally Happy Endings. (And no Naughty Tentacles. Until Power Play.)
• Mental Affair: In Power Play, Miina uses her magic to split the protagonist's consciousness to make him think and feel as though he's having sex with 8 different versions of herself!
• Multiple Endings: Power Play, fittingly.
• Oh Crap: You have "telepathy" that lets you feel other people having sex. You are trying to get out of range of one couple. You are not paying attention where you are going. You wind up in the red light district...
• Only Six Faces: Unfortunately. Most girls have nearly the same face and proportions. (The more characters in the story, the more variety he tries to work in, more or less successfully.) He's never delved into older ladies or the larger, voluptuous kind. Or at least not yet...
  • Most of the male protagonists might as well be the same guy.
• Pettanko: A minor plot point in Love and Travel and Cyber Rabbit.
• Plot With Porn: Very explicit, sometimes very sweet and often very funny.
• The Power of Love: Most explicit in Witchcraft: two people who love each other not only have much more fulfilling sex than the villainess has with her Sex Slaves, the force of their emotion combined with the female lead's projective telepathy overwhelm the villainess -- and everyone else in the vicinity, this also includes the countless number of former Hermaphrodites in the pit.
• Rape As Comedy: See above under Beat Panel.
  • Also, there's the unfortunate Yakuza member in the same manga who falls into a pit full of Hermaphrodites.
• Tenchi Solution: The wrap-up of Tayu Tayu. Arguably inverted or deconstructed or something since it's enforced on the would-be Official Couple by, well, by every other girl in the harem.
  • Played semi-straight in Power Play.
• There Was a Door: The heroines enter the Evil Sex King's lair this way in Power Play, and Sara invokes the trope name.
• Tsundere: Maria from Power Play. Lampshaded by the male protagonist.
• What Do You See In Me?/I Can't Believe A Girl Like You Would Notice Me: The protagonist of Cow Girl does this to himself, to the girl he's having sex with.

  Hiromi: "What am I supposed to do -- just say 'Hmm, you've got a point' and stop?"

• Wrong Genre Savvy: Miina of Power Play lampshaded the fact that they didnt ended with a harem ending and instead went with a First Girl Wins route.
