• Alas, Poor Villain - Subverted in Episode 14; Jagara's soldiers surround Darcia and his wife's corpse and there are images of the keep being destroyed, but Darcia is alive and well, as seen in his return in Episode 25. It's still an absolutely gutwrenching scene to watch though.
• And the Fandom Rejoiced - When Adult Swim skipped the recap episodes and aired the four OVA episodes at the end.
• Creepy Awesome: Darcia & Jaguara
  • Creepy Sexy: Darcia & Jaguara again.
• Crowning Moment of Awesome: Toboe killing the walrus stands out.
• Crowning Moment of Heartwarming - For one, the scene of Kiba, Tsume, Hige, and Toboe laughing together at the end of Episode 20, following Kiba's rescue.
  • Also, Toboe saving Quent from freezing to death.
  • And Quent's reunion with Blue in episode 26?
    • Hige and Blue's reunion deserves a mention too. Even with three legs he still runs to meet her.
• Crowning Music of Awesome - Just listen to the soundtrack. Courtesy of Yoko Kanno.
• Everyone Is Jesus in Purgatory - So, what do you think is going on in that very last scene?
• Evil Is Sexy - Jaguara, Darcia
• Fridge Brilliance: A lot of the songs in the two soundtracks give away the ending, like "Cloud 9" ( the wolves after the conclusion) and "Heaven's Not Enough", which are the most spoilerific.
• Moral Event Horizon:
  • Darcia shooting Toboe and Quent in episode 28 made him lose a lot of fans.
  • He follows this in the series finale by brutally killing Blue. And that's before getting into what he did to Cheza...
• Narm - For some, Lord Darcia's Freak-Out after the death of his lover. Mainly due to his face in the moment.
• Nightmare Fuel:
  • Cheza's screams, most likely intentional. Is that what a dog whistle sounds like to canines?
    • One of the times she screamed was because Giant-Wolf Darcia was hauling her around BY THE SPINE.
  • Darcia's descent to becoming a maniacal monster in the OVA. His Slasher Smile in the finale doesn't help.
• Tear Jerker - The last few episodes, especially Episode 29 and 30, are less "Tear Jerker" and more "Tear Out Your Heart And Stomp On It".
• Too Cool to Live: Tsume
• Uncanny Valley: Darcia, and pretty much all the Nobles.
• Viewer Gender Confusion - Poor, poor Toboe, even the Manga artist thought he was a girl.
• The Woobie - Several of the characters (Kiba, Tsume, Hige, Blue, Cheza, Harmona, Quent and Darcia), with Toboe as the most clear-cut example.
